Angry F@#K Progressive Insurance

So yesterday I get 3 letters in the mail from ADOT saying I have no insurance on my 911 my truck and my wife's car I have 15 days to show proof of insurance or vehicle registration will be suspended. I call Progressive to see what is going on and they tell me they can no longer insure my 911 because it is a grey market car, so they cancelled insurance on all my cars on 5/9/2013 my wife and I have been driving around for almost a month with no insurance, they did not call they did not send a letter, they said they sent an e mail on 4/23 that I can not find. I have had a policy with them since 1994 they have insured my 911 since 2002 now they can't insure it. I have 3 cars and 3 motorcycles insured with them and they just cancel my auto insurance without telling me. I will never do business with them again. Now I get to find a new insurance co.

All my vintage stuff is insured with Haggerty.

Just added my "new" '76 BMW......$35.00 per year valuation at $6K with full coverage!

--------

BTW, I have a local insurance agent who manages all this at no charge to me. I have called Haggerty directly and that's very easy also. My work truck is insured through him with Progressive and so far (11 years) no problems.

I'm sure you can get another insurance company but keep Haggerty in mind for your collectibles - they're good!

Twong = lowball deal! I shopped for a week, and he kept killing everyone. He beat Esurance!

I said "f-you!" to Progressive last May. Dang it feels great to say it again. I don't regret ditching them as they refused to offer me a liability-only policy as a named operator (they did it in the past) when I sold my Carrera.

Stick it to 'em hard.

Progressive is only good for lowest-price motorcycle, liability-only coverage. I'd never insure a car with them ever again.

i've wondered what would stop me from taking the snapshot device out of my co worker's car and plugging it into the power socket of my motorcycle? then going on a 140mph jpyride through some school zones.

It will report being plugged into a different vehicle with a different VIN. It connects to the ODB-II port.

Varmint, just reprogram the ECU on your bike to have the same VIN, then easy-peasy. Well, if your bike has an OBD2 port...

The only thing that gets their attention is a complaint to the Insurance Commissioners Office of your State. You might be able to do it online.
I filed a complaint against Progressive here in Georgia for our fire dept. Was the only thing that got them to pay a small 500.00 claim. Why they are still allowed to do business in Georgia is beyond me.
Anybody that spends that much money on advertising- something is very wrong.

Second the complaint with the Ins. Dept. I suspect they have to give you written notice. Email doesn't count. Just an informed opinion. Not known as fact. F with them.

Thanks for all the info, I don't mind getting a new company for my cars, but they have the best rates for motorcycles. But I am pissed that they did not call or send a letter that they were canceling my policy we drove around for a month thinking we had insurance I hate to think what would have happened if we had an accident. And to think they treat a customer that has been with them since 1994 and has 6 vehicles covered with them like that is crazy.
