Rick
Check out the Sinn EZM1. Those hold their value and the first run has actually appreciated over the years. You could check broadarrow.net for pre-owened ones.

Alf,

Those are going on Ebay.de for "only" 2200 Euros!

Not a one on Ebay in America...

Two of the 356's here on Ebay and both above $1000. Sure looks nice.

Rick Lee 07-14-2006 11:53 AM

Yeah, the German eBay site has about 30 or so.

But most of them won't ship to the US.

Just bid on one of them. Will have it sent to a friend in Berlin, then they can FedEx it here. :)

Thanks. I have enough friends in Germany to probably do local pick-up from every one of those sellers. I'm just kinda curious why they won't sell to the US. I've gotten plenty of screaming deals on Porsche stuff from the German eBay.

Picked this one up a couple of weeks ago. WW2 German Air Force Hanhart Chronograph.

Alf,

Can you pls give me a ballpark on the cost? Is it from the states or overseas? Nice looking watch, especiall considering the age!

Seahawk,

Bought my last Rolex in the Berlin PX and it always brings back memories, especially since its been closed down for a long time.

Rick,

No idea but may just be that they are not "global" type people and used to selling to another country. Would think that they would sell it anywhere in the EEC as a minimum.

Going to get an Omega one of these days but it will take some saving.

Going completely in the opposite direction (as I usually do) of the beautiful, simple vintage watches you guys are posting about.
I bought another quartz gadget watch, I have a few vintage watches but the price was right on this one.

Speaking of Speedmasters, does anyone have a source for links for the 1171 bracelet on my 69 Speedy?

lateapex911 07-14-2006 07:10 PM

Cool! The watch thread is back! I've picked up a few....

Here's an very old Breitling...as near as I can tell it's from the 30s

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1152932943.jpg

And i got this Chronomat...the one that really started it all for Breitling in the 40s..the first watch with the slide rule bezel.

More when I get my other computer back up after the lightning strike...

Cool Breitlings! Love the Old Chronos.

Scott
How does the Compass on that Hamilton work?

Joe
I kind of stole that Hanhart for $1600, it was the asking price. They usually cost twice as much and are twice as beat up if you could find one. It is about the size of a Speedmaster. Came out of Germany, but the guy was visiting NYC.

A couple more Military Watches

Vietnam Era Hamilton (US Army)

My daughter bought this on ebay as a beach watch for her boyfriend, about $75. It's a calender watch with the extra buttons to change the dates. To use the tachymetre you need to line up the second hand on the 12 and stop it as if you are synchronising the time. (at least that's the only way I can find of using it). It's a quartz movement even if it's marked automatic) I wonder if it's a clone?;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

She also bought a beach watch for herself but that hasn't arrived yet. I'll post if it's anything interesting.

Beach watch=cheap and cheerful watch to wear on the beach that you can risk damaging or having stolen.

Isabo 07-15-2006 03:30 AM

This is what beloved offspring got for herself. It's a licensed copy in plastic of the Audemar Piguet Royal Oak. It's the height of cheap and cheerful and really cool looking on the beach or by the pool. I want to get one for myself to wear in the shower;)
