Outblinged for a minute...

Sitting at a red lite in my 2001 Boxster base I saw a Porsche 914 coming in from another direction. It was being aggressively driven and had an exhaust note that took me back to the 1970's.Yes to die for. I have not seen one of these running for eons.
If you have one of these running or nearly running it gives me more of a thrill than seeing a brand new Porsche...

I live in a great car neighborhood. From 1930's fords that are restored. Vintage 911's and 12's Ferrari's, '60's muscle cars, Bently's, Nissan GTR's a MGTD Austin Healy's and a pretty damn nice 914 in Green drives by often.

There's a original owner 55 T bird that is to die for in sea foam green that is thw nicest driven t-bird that I've ever seen.

I'm lucky, Joanna understands when my head turns to listen to what's going by

Yes Jim you are in a great part of the world where classic cars can be driven year round and have less rust. Up here the limited show of classic cars starts around June and goes to about September. Old Jags with v12's I have not heard for a while. The ranks are thinning. However that Porsche 914 I saw shows that you don't need big displacement to turn heads.

A 914... really?

Don't get me wrong, I like the 914, may even own one someday...

But what is next... high praise for the 944?

When I started posting her *cough* 12 years ago *cough*

I asked a few questions here about my 944...

I was told by the 911 guys to "roll it off a cliff" because it was a waste of time, money, and sheet metal... and presumably a disgrace to the mighty Porsche name...

I kid you not!

But then... that was before the pepperwagon

I wish I had not sold my 1976 first model year 924 bright yellow colored. Stunningly cute little car.

I get the same responses about the 996.

I see 944's in Los Angeles at least once a week. A 914 probably every couple of weeks.

You would never ever say again you've been out-blinged by a 914 if you've seen Dave's at TRE. If Porsche could do it all over again, they would all be like his — and then some.

I don't have any pics of the 71 914 I had in college, but here's the last two I had:

The chebby V8 teener:

The 2 liter turbo teener:

I like these little cars, especially when they have the power to go with the handling. .

I used to have to bite my tongue when I picked up a lady in the 944 and they would squeal "oh, what a cute car!!!!"

Now the Miata I would expect that... but (thank gaud) I don't date anymore...

Keep repeating Scott... I will not sell the Miata for a 914... I will not sell the Miata for a 914...

I see my Porsche snobbery detector meter is deflected into the red zone. That's okay
-beauty is in the eye of the beholder....

944's are neat too. I remember watching those race on tv - no doubt it was in the US. Thanks for the pics of the 914.
