got my CWP yesterday

got my concealed weapons permit.
they said it would take about 3 months to get it. i dont know if that was 3 months(90 days) of working days or not, but it was more like 4 months total.
whats bad is that where i work i can not even have a gun in my car, so to leave work and carry is not gonna happen.

AZ has a recent law that employers can't bar you from having a gun in your car on company property, as long as it stays there. At the local USAA campus they used to search cars at the guardhouse.

Yes, the NRA does seem to cause another set of problems when it tries to fix one. Still, I don't think anyone should be allowed to search vehicles just because they're on private property. It's one thing to search an employee's desk that belongs to the company, but people have a reasonable expectation of privacy in their vehicles and that goes double for when on private property and not a public road. My company has a policy that you can be terminated for having a firearm while conducting company business. Total BS, especially since it's legal and customary to carry in the car in AZ. But it's not like anyone from HR on the other side of the country is gonna see it.

they can trust you to come into the building but you cant be trusted with your car in the parking lot.....go figure. they use to have a rule here we could not park within 80ft of the building. why? i can just bring a bomb inside.
i also like the sign on the door, "no fire arms permitted". like if that had been on the dooor of on eof these school shootings THAT would stop them from bringing a gun in and shooting people.

i work for the GOVT, laws dont apply.

i bought an XDS 45 a while back but i am really thinking about the 9mm PCM(?) i think it is.

whats bad is i gotta lose some weight to carry.

None of the laws about where you can't carry make any sense. It's not like some disgruntled employee bent on murder, mayhem and suicide is gonna care about a possible weapons or trespassing charge if he survives the incident. I did carry into a client meeting once because it was already in my jacket when I picked my boss up at the airport and I couldn't have removed it with his seeing it. Client happened to be a shooting victim of a workplace mass shooting and survived. I didn't know that at the time, but sheesh. What are those odds? Wish I could have told her nothing like that was gonna happen when I was there.

welcome to the club, and remember..

While that may seem hokey, it is very true now..
Spend the time at the range & learn your weapon (if you haven't already)

Some places search at the entry gate.

Isnt the point of those employer rules to keep the guy who just got fired from going to his car, getting his weapon and shooting up the place? Yes, it wasnt planned in advance...

What if you park in a private lot, not the employers? Obviously noissue there but might want to carry TO the private lot. No win solution.

I doubt they're very thorough even at the places that do search. There are a lot of places to hide a handgun in a car. I know a guy who had been bird hunting before picking his boss up at DCA and forgot about having a shotgun in the trunk when he had to drop him off at the White House and didn't get searched. No mass workplace shooting was ever stopped by a no-guns in cars policy.

Ha, I was getting on a flight and I had to declare I had a gun and ammo. The young Asian chickie at the checkin desk asked me if the firearm has had the firing pin removed. I said the gun has been disassembled. She didn't know that word in English so repeated it back to me, so I said the gun was in parts. She yelled out to her supervisor that I only had gun parts and he did a dismissive wave back. She screwed up the form and ignored the gun.

What are you carrying, where, how? Just curious about what you chose.
