Not to get to far OT but I met Marilyn Chambers at the release of Insatiable II in New Haven. She was worn out but still very hot. So your car is still awesome!

My 91 Maxima with 275k on her when I sold her in 2010 to one of my colleagues for $900. He's been driving her since. SHould ask him how many miles are on her now.

Well done Milt.
I usually buy a 7 year old Corolla and keep it for ten years. By the time it's ten years is up it's pretty rough having lived on a, sometimes, vicious beach front so there are rusting issues. My mechanic (a friend) says to me your policy of lots of oil changes and don't thrash them when they are cold works well for you and your cars. We have customers who don't have maintenance records but have every few years have a catatropic failure issue. |

I've had my 924S since new in '86.
Drove a Renault Espace with 2 litre carburetted petrol engine for 450,000 miles in 9 years since bought new, and it was still running well when sold. I agree on frequent oil changes and not driving hard until fully warmed up. However my Mazda Premacy diesel that replaced the Espace only lasted 268,000 miles.

I'm just surprised the odometer is still working.
My longest would have to be the 4 years I spent with my Talon TSI in college.

I bought my 1990 Geo Tracker new, it lasted 19-1/2 years.
Only about 160,000 miles on it. Rust killed the electrical system, the body almost rusted off the frame - many stress cracks. The exhaust system almost killed me, the weak part of the truck's design. I've had my Porsche almost 10-years, second longest I've ever owned a car. I only put about 20,000 miles on it. I've had my hovercraft for 23 years, and only about 100 hours on it.

Short answer - currently 11 years for my 1975 Targa. More detail:
1967 Bug - 1983-1990 - Restored while using it consistently until 1989 Probe GT - First new car. Traded in for 2000 Passat 4 Motion - wreaked by daughter in 2010 1975 911S Targa from 2002 to current - Driven daily when not being worked on (see sig) or too damn hot. 2007 Acura TL - 2008-2012 traded for new Outback for wife. Now 2007 Sienna - is my backup car. So I'm averaging 10 years/car and the Targa is at 11 and will stay in the family as it has for 38 years. My USAA policy lists the Targa as vehicle #10, the others are currently 11, 13 & 14. Let's see if I remember them all. Seems like a lot of turnover for someone averaging 10 yrs/ car. I'll blame the wife(s). 1- 67 Bug - I was 21, in college 2 - Buick Skylark - acquired with ExWife in 1988 3 - 89 Probe GL - the Buick died 4 - 89 Probe GT, mine was certainly slicker than hers - Bug gone soon therafter 5 - 1990? Sable wagon - three way trade from father, Probe GL to sister 6 - 1993? Ford Windstar - growing family, Sable traded, later dispatched with wife. 7 - 89 Acura Integra, acquired with 2nd wife - she drove a manual ![]() 8 - 2000 Passat - Goodbye Probe GT 9 - 2002 Sienna - three kids now, Acura sold privately 10- 2nd wife's father's Targa 11 - 2007 Sienna - Upgrade - other traded 12 - 2007 Acura TL - added in 2008 to move Passat to student use, 1400 miles! 13 - 2006 Sonata - bought in 2010 to replace wreaked Passat 14 - 2012 Outback - traded in Acura TL - moving Sienna to my control 15? - Need another for second daughter in nursing school - Ford Fusion/Focus? There was a thread a while back about numbers of cars owned. My number is average - only because I'm 51 and there are now driving kids in the family. MAny of us have been through a lot of cars!

I have had my 1986 El Camino for 21 years. I swapped out the original 305 after 301,000 miles with a new 350. Ready for another 300k

My 2001 Ford F150 SuperCrew with 200K miles. Still have it, but my son drives it now.
Next longest would be my 1987 930, but it wasn't a DD. Had it 12 years. |

The '93 Passat Turbo diesel. Bought with just under 60,000km on it in 1995. Traded it in 2007 with around 430,000km.
Oil changes every 12,000km, brakes every 120,000, only things which failed were the alternator at 280,000 and the fuel injection pump at 380,000. I should have let it go when the pump went, but kept it another 16 months and traded it in on the Jetta we now drive. The wife still misses that car. Best Les
