Fess up-who has a Squatty Potty?

I did not know that the way we go has such a detrimental effect on our health.

You ever travel to third world countries? That's why they have those foot print printed next to the hold in the ground. They must have know about this for some time now.

Pretty common in many parts of Asia. Here in Japan most public bathrooms offer both sit and squat types.

Yep, that's where I seen em' as well. All over Asia.

Most house hold in Japan are done away with them, only in public restrooms? I have used those hole in the ground during the the winter months. If you are not used to using such wonderful place, you jacket or shirt will touch the floor which is usually wet. Gross. It was April in Beijing. What a pain in the ass.

I have to ask, do people actually use them in public restroom in Japan?

I suppose in a "pinch" you could just use a "stool".

It does indeed. Think about it from the perspective that we humans are mammals, animals - and the only animal who's created a piece of furniture to sit on while defecating.

In our earlier stages of development we simply assumed a squatting position and defecated on the ground. Ever had to take a dump in the woods? Did ya scratch yer chin an' think to yerself, Lessee now, how'm I gonna do this?

Nah, you knew what to do and the squat position you assumed is natural and the healthiest position to assume to evacuate yer bowels, yup!

The squatting position shown in the link is better but not as good as squatting with no support, balanced - the stool needs to be the same height as the toilet seat (you'll squat, leaning forward enough to balance and your butt will be above the toilet seat. You can buy such benches.

So, holes in the ground with foot pads are actually best; problem is, no flushing mechanism.

Several years ago I replaced two commodes and was really angry that the standard height had increased several inches, can't buy the older, lower commodes anywhere.

Yeah, proper elimination of all the waste our bodies produce is an important factor in maintaining our health, but one which isn't discussed that much.

Well, I tried using the stepstool my daughter uses to brush her teeth. I would not recommend doing this as I nearly ripped my taint. I am going to use the traditional method ( feet on the floor) from now on.

That was extremely enlightening. Proper education. Vote for post of the year.

My wife has Vietnamese people who work at her manufacturing plant and they squatty while standing on the potty seat to go which is always causing quite a mess.
