how are your tomato plants doing?

i have had some ups and downs. mostly downs because of some burrowing rodent.

tonight i have to make a light late dinner..wife is getting home late. fish tacos!!

so pico de gallo, fresh from the garden. i hate summer, except for fresh produce, and long daylight hours.

so, how's your fruit hangin?

Typical Portland tomato growing season. By the time you are sick of tomatoes, I might get my first full-sized tomato. By the time the rest of my tomatoes are getting ripe, the rain will start. By the time the tomatoes are ripe, they will be rotten.

My Black Krims are rockin.. San Marzanos..... are rockin a lil less..... and the Ramapos a bit less the the first two..

I need to set up a game cam so I can catch my mailman stealing ripe ones....My neighbors (old ladies on either side of my property who have know me since I was a child) always leave a note when they come and raid my garden

They would never take all the ripe fruit from a plant..

So it is a passer by...

I will be setting up a game cam soon...

I planted four row of garlic about eight feet long.. they don't look very happy..

Why do wild garlic and wild onion grow so well in my lawn when not invited?

Before they start splitting or getting blotchy, pick them green and leave on the counter for a couple weeks to ripen. Refridgerate after ripe.
Works great.

We have been getting about an inch of rain a day for the past week, and have over 10" since the start of June. My garden is basically under water and all the plants are rotting from too much water. First time this has ever happened in the 23 years we have lived here.

all mine this year are volunteers from last years fall clean up after the last freeze. have like six of the lil yellow cherry tomates that came up where they laid. not the most opportune locations, but worth irrigating non the less. one thing the second generation ones have that the originals did not is a little nipple like deal 180* off the stem. some gene deal that only shows in subsequent generations from the store bought original? any ideas?

Nothing but green so far. We've had plenty of warm nights, so they should have set some tomatoes a couple of weeks ago but they're just getting around to it now.
