If Zimmerman gets off, I wonder who the next yahoo with a gun will be, that tries to use the 'zimmerman defense'.

[QUOTE=Scooter;7544606]This is very simple. No emotions. No personal arguments. No personal judgement of the man. No personal opinion of the event.

Maybe at some point in time well use a program of some kind to enter only facts, but until than we use Jury's which are made up of people that have guess what....emotions, personal arguments, personal judgements of the man and the event.

In the old days, where I come from...a fight was where two fellows squared off (in general either could have walked off)...we would have never called a younger, larger, more athletic man jumping and beating a chubby older man who put up little or no resistance. We called that an assault (or attempted murder) and the perpetrator an animal/criminal.

If there was just one punch....and then the initiator walked away...I could agree that Zimmerman was out of line to shoot and his life was not in danger (although Martin should still have been charged with assaut and battery). One cannot be expected to lie on their back and get savegly beaten and coolly determine the point just before he dies to defend himself. Few armed people would have taken the beating Zimmerman did.

I suggest we might call them heroes of liberty.

Ever hear of a double tap?? Zimmerman did not double tap him which IMHO means that he just wanted the attack, ATTACK, to stop. It did, the kid used damn poor judgement.

Self defense.

See above, it's currently called self defense.

I predict that everyone will want to have that gun in their pockets at all times, especially young black males. If TM already had his he might be the one alive and Z the dead man. And shootouts between people wo disagree will be a common sight in America. That is the way the NRA envisions paradise.

romad 07-12-2013 10:28 AM

poor chubby older man are you sh##### me. there are certain rules........Don't play with fire....don't f with the bull don't piss in the wind........because they have consequences.....this poor old chubby man should have then not perpetuate a situation he had no business being in .......the kid was walking back from the friggin store with a bag of candy in his pocket.....now he is dead because Zimmerman was a chubby "old "guy really......

dipso 07-12-2013 10:30 AM

He,he. You guys are funny.
'hero of liberty' made me laugh out loud.
At best I would still say 'yahoo with a gun' who irresponsibly brought it into a situation he could not control, and now his life is over. I think he might live longer in jail, if he gets PC. I give him 6 months out of jail.
And where is he going to move to? Nobody wants a child killer living on their street.
I don't even have kids and don't want that freak as my neighbor.

dipso 07-12-2013 10:33 AM

Zimmerman wasn't chubby at the time. He put on about 60 pounds for the trial. He also grew his hair out to hide the non existent life threatening scars.

Answering your possibly drunk post high lighted in bold above.... You might believe there are more bad people than good, in which case you might have a point.

The truth is very different. As is, perhaps, your version of paradise(anarchy).

Ha ha. You said "child." What a rube.

romad 07-12-2013 10:36 AM

And this is another question ....its all about Martin's ill intent......what if you were Martin walking around some jack off is following you . Of course old chubby George is above suspicion and all Martin actions were obvious provocation. Gemme a break Zimmerman initiated this action , escalated it by getting out his vehicle and kills the kid. Walk in Martin shoes he had no idea of this guys intent......but he sure knew it was not right.

Thats a different situation. It sounds like your describing two guys arguing and escalating into a fight mostly out of ego. This was a situation where both people were probably fighting out of fear and self preservation. In that type of situation you want to make sure you beat the guy enough so that he doesnt want to get up and come after you. Only a fool would try to throw one punch and walk away. I dont even think a trained fighter would be that cocky.

I was talking about for the purposes of this thread that I was not including my emotions, my personal judgements of the man or event.

So now Zimmerman was a chubby, old man that was "savagely" beaten? He had a couple of superficial cuts in the back of his head. Give it a break, please. You weren't there and don't know what was said to have TM feel he had to attack. Zimmerman sought out this incident emboldened by the heat he was packing. He used zero common sense. His out was always that he could blow away one of the "suspicious" guys if he had to, whether it was TM or someone else. As pointed out by others, he could've carried pepper spray or a taser to perform his "watch" duties.

Rodsrsr 07-12-2013 10:44 AM

Edited - personal attack removed. -Z-man.

And you would be wrong. This is the same crap that we heard twenty years ago. The opposite is true. In states with shall issue, the trouble decreased. Oh and if you go to the NRA website they will provide you the stats on this. You are TOTALLY ignorant of the facts.

Shaun @ Tru6 07-12-2013 10:45 AM

the sidewalks in FL are made of Spongebob Squarepants plush dolls??

who knew?!

Funny thing is he didn't "blow him away" Hollywood style from a distance.

Try to get a grip here if at all possible.
