Sir, It's a Boxster....

Anyone see this trailer for the new Kristen Wiig movie?

Guy: "It's a Porsche"
Wiig: "Sir....it's a Boxster".

It's about 10 seconds in:

GIRL MOST LIKELY TV Spot- "Moving Home Cutdown" - YouTube

Hilarious!!

That is kind of funny. :)

I'm reminded of a scene on the show "Episodes" where the studio exec demands someone give him just ONE idea that doesn't involve someone moving back in with their parents and no one had anything.

I would have but for the pesky commercial in the beginning.

98cobra 07-17-2013 06:42 PM

She is so funny!!

drcoastline 07-18-2013 04:13 AM

Funny. Yesterday I saw a blue boxster in a parking lot and thought that looks nice. Then I said to myself "it's a boxster and walked away.

GH85Carrera 07-18-2013 04:18 AM

I remember the same snide remarks about my 914. Now 914s are sought after and finally have some respect.

"Sir...it's a VoPo."

asphaltgambler 07-18-2013 04:56 AM

If you look close his personalized tag reads: MYPORSH So I assume when that scene starts she walks up to him says it just like his tags reads. In the trailer, you just see that moment. We thought it was funny - not sure if the whole movie is funny and entertaining tho

Once when getting gas in the 356 a Boxster driver asked "What kind of kit car is that". Understandable if it were a speedster with flared wheel wells but it is a rusty old C coupe...

Who cares what anybody says about the Boxster. I have had mine 2 years and could not be happier. VOPO, hairdressers' car etc it just does not matter. If you have not driven one you don't know what you are missing....

It is a commercial. That's what you are watching.

Don't waste your time. The 356 owners said the same things about the 911. All Porsche owners said the same thing about the 914, then the 924. Nothing but constipated brains. They're still bashing the Panamera.

Little fat bald men with little peckers. When men with a common bond get together in person or on the Net, they first see if they can whack the other guy on the shin with their dick. When that fails, they turn their disdain to some inanimate object they know nothing about.

VoPo?

ledhedsymbols 07-18-2013 07:52 AM

Hey! I for one have never attempted to whack anyone in the shin with my junk! ;)

In my current Porsche-less state, I have lusted after many a Boxter in recent years. Hell, top down rowing through the gears in anything that starts with a P and ends with an orshe sounds good to me! Beats my beater '89 Camry (AKA "The Chariot") hands down, even if it is a 2.5L with a Tiptronic.

Funny trailer too. My wife loves her (Kristen Wiig) stuff, maybe plan on a date night if we can find a sitter...

porsche4life 07-18-2013 07:57 AM

I've seen some decent cars with 5spds in the 8-9k range.... Stupid cheap start to a boxster spec racer.

The best part is that due to the cable shift mechanism, you don't have to row at all. It was probably Satch Carlson that coined the phrase "snick" thru the gears. Or of his ilk. Anywho, that's more of the experience as the next gear is short of a toss away such as in a 915 or G-50 2nd to 3rd or 4th to 5th shift.

Volkswagen-Porsche. Referring to a 914 I expect.

Exactly! I suspect in 5-10 years boxsters will be ruling track events like the 914s....

ledhedsymbols 07-18-2013 08:12 AM

I should be so lucky as to be able to discuss the finer points of shifting in multiple eras of Porsche transmissions.

I've got my eyes on a Cayman in a few years... We shall see. I'm trading my F-2Filthy for a friends 964 while he moves in a couple weeks... Should be fun, I'll post pictures when that happens.

Jim Richards 07-18-2013 08:15 AM

964s rock.
