Tr-6
tell me about it
a friend has one and I need some facts to diss it with - she's not a DIY mechanic or technically astute (except in using radiation to kill cancer) so need some simple things... ![]() |

I think it's interesting that you want to diss a friend's car.
Maybe wierd is a better word. But then... I consider the source. Somebody (the friend) needs better friends. Yes, of course you'll say it's all in fun. But IMO, you shouldn't diss a person's car. Or their spouse. Or their hometown. Or their job. Or their friends. Or their neighborhood. Or their institution of higher learning or its football team. Just an idea.

Hard to criticize a TR-6, for what it is, it is pretty perfect. But here goes: not an Austin-Healey, nor a Jaguar, begat the "The Car That Shall Not Be Named" (the TR-7), needs a V-8, and you really need to be blonde with a delightful bosom to drive one. Does that describe your friend?

By the way, please contact me if you change your mind. That car, and your story on it, is a special kind of cool. ![]()

As I recall, McCool rode a TR6 in 'The Great Escape'. I'd still probably get a 750 Bonneville, all things being equal.

A TR6 is a Triumph car.
A 750 Bonneville is a Triumph motorcycle. Re the sports cars, their detractors back in the day said the TR stood for TRactor.... or TRuck... or both? Never heared no body diss the Bonneville.

Not Bonney but the Tiger?
(I had a TR 4 and a TR 250. I love Triumph sports cars. I should get one.)

The downsides are that you have to occasionally let the smoke out of all the electricals on the highway. Once in a while you have to repaint the duck tape holding the susension to the car and the aluminum angle stock and zinc-plated bolts in the undercarriage need periodic re-bondo-ing.
Or so I'm told. |

Pretty cool cars - prolly one of the only small cars that's not a chick car. Everyone that sees one likes it.

I've had two, a 69 and a 75 (plus a GT6+). They were both fairly reliable, believe it or not, but I didn't have them too many years.
Very primitive compared to cars just a few years newer. |
