I'm a hugger, sorry. One thing I really hate though is the dead fish handshake, be it from a man or a women.

Z-man 08-02-2013 09:57 AM

Not a hugger. Even handshakes that last longer than they should make me feel rather uncomfortable. I only let a few chosen people into my personal space - my family and my closest friends. Everyone else -- keep your distance!

Whiteward may be up north, but the climate this time of year is outstanding.

I've broken most of the fingers on my right hand. And ripped the thumb out of its socket. I hate dealing with ****wits who think every handshake should be an alpha gorilla dominance test.

speeder 08-02-2013 10:07 AM

A handshake should be a warm greeting...not limp but not some test of grip either.

What are you gonna do? Some of us are just wired that way! :p

angela

on information and belief, you are not a "bro"

women are huggable - other guys, NOT

when you shake hands with someone, you are touching everything they have touched - think about it

a nice bow, or head nod shuld be enuff! (except for attractive women...)

Laneco 08-02-2013 10:14 AM

Speeder, Janet, Tweezers?

HUGS ARE ON if we ever get together. Now that would be one fun lunch date!!!

The State told me I am not allowed to hug. I think the actual discussion started with, "Look, buddy, if we have to serve one more restraining order against you...." It went downhill from there. Especially when I tried to hug the process server before she left.

BlueSkyJaunte 08-02-2013 10:39 AM

What I can't stand are the women who give hugs that are only from the clavicle up. Commit to it! Full hugs or nothing!

A freaking head nod when you see a dear friend? That's weirder than dry-humping them if you ask me.

bivenator 08-02-2013 11:16 AM

Would you hug this man?

If he molested my wife or GF, I'd do a lot more than hug him.

That was a great hug, man. Hey, my wallet is missing! I always keep it in this pocket, I never keep it in this pock...... umm.... never mind.

Hang a left at Brownsville...

I don't mess with hugging... just go right for the crotch grab!

But seriously... growing up in SoCal part of it is the Latino thing... Pacific islanders are pretty huggy too... YMMV

Ah, the good old squirrel grip. Hit that wit a nipple cripple combo and it's high school all over again. ;)

I have several friends who dispense with any form of salutation. No handshake, no how ya doing, just get with the business. If it's a project, then the meeting starts with "how's it coming?"

Hard to do that with a woman.

I met with a man this morning I had never met before and we had about a minute of conversation before we actually got close enough to shake hands. A lot of it had to do with parking and this and that, but there was no strain to rush up and hug.

imcarthur 08-02-2013 01:06 PM

It's you 'mericans. I noticed it started (in business) in earnest after 9/11 amongst my US cohorts. While I will respond, I won't initiate. I have seen many of our suppliers - French suppliers included - cringe when accosted by my hugging co-workers.

I'm a bit of a hugger and a huggee. Not a dirty great hug like you would with a good looking female, but rather an arm over the shoulder, shoulders touching and a light slap on the back.

Certainly not everyone, just good buddies when everyone is getting a bit jolly like in a bar.
