Pretty cool.... a good slow motion video would have been nice. Warning, unsafe language in vid.

My son raced go karts for years, and we ran 5hp B&S flatheads. We turned those things about 7000rpm on methanol. We spent a lot of time together, great memories

That would make a neat but noisy lightbulb/stobe.

In my combustion engine class we had two single cylinder, 4 stroke engines that had glass cylinder blocks. Looked and sounded a lot like that. You could change the ignition timing and carb needle valve setting and see the difference in flame color. You could also see the difference between running ethanol and gasoline. Gasoline burned much brighter.

Edit: found a video from a guy who took the class the year before me.

Neat, but meh - definitely not "blow your mind material". Lots of combustion research engines have windows. There is also a lot of simulation in this field looking at fuel burn, pressure fronts etc.

Cracked the glass and kept running it, sucking fuel from a glass jelly jar 6 inches from the exhaust.

Brilliant.

Yeah I was waiting for that glass to come flying out at Mach 5.
