It's a PC. Just go the the "Start" menu and click "Shut down" and it will fire right up.

It happened to me as well. Once I got HD to start by tapping it, I quickly made a mirror of entire partition to another drive. Once replaced old drive with new, everything was as usual.

That saved me from re-installing everything.
