For superior protection, use butyl tape caulking on your side and butt laps as well.

I had considered laying a bead of some sort of roof sealant between sheets

Tape caulking is easier than tube and not as messy if for some reason you need to relocate the sheet. You can use a 2-corrugation side lap as well instead of 1.

I can't help you with lowering the whole thing. That just seems like a lot of work.

If I was a betting man, I would guess the $300 strips are their way of not having to pay warranty claims.

I finally started this project; over the past couple of weeks I got all of the adjustments and welding done, and yesterday I started on the new roof. I decided to go with metal because I didn't want to do this all over again in 5 years. If rain noise becomes an issue, I'll lay down an elastomeric coating

The structure is pretty stout, but I have considered adding extra bracing

I like the LED light idea

I have power and air running out there already, although not on a reel

This structure is primarily for storage, so I don't really need speakers.

Got most of the roof done; just a couple of fiddly bits here and there and I want to put a rain gutter on the trailing edge.

It is sloped toward the front of the cars. When it rains, there's a nice waterfall effect.
