Interesting news about the local lake! 6 bodies found!

UPDATE: Sixth body found in cars pulled from Foss Lake, one victim identified | KFOR.com

I've launched boats and jet skis out of that ramp for years, even slept on a houseboat not too far away! Wild to think that these cars have been down there all this time.

How long until someone calls to see if the Camaro SS can be bought for restoration...or has it happened already?

It is cool that they were doing a training exercise with a sonar unit and found the cars. I guess the sonar unit works great.

I have to wonder in both cars were at the end of a road, or a curve in the road or something. Did both cars just drive into the lake?

I'm guessing that drugs may have played a role...

Were these launched like boats at the ramp?

Saw them on the news this AM.

Beyond restoration.

Completely rotted with holes big enough to drive a smartcar through.

Surprised they did not fall apart as they were being dragged out.

I highly doubt that there was drug money. Those teens were from a small town that has had oil and gas money for a long time, as well as some ranchers with huge tracts of land. Young kids with newly near camaros and mustangs has always been common out there....

They went off the main ramp, which is at the end of a road. I have attached a pic for reference.

They would have had to been hauling butt to get far enough out to have gone unnoticed through this drought. The lake is down at least 10-15ft from normal and they were still not visible from the surface!

Someone will take the numbers and build a new car around them.

That is even more amazing that in all the years no boat sank at launch or that no one noticed anything in all those years. And not just one car but two!

Is strange..people living there in their OWN home twn, drive off a boat ramp.! ?
If they hit the water fast enough i will guess kinetics and wave action will float them out a ways B4 hitting bottom.
One has to wonder why no one escaped and swam ashore..............

I can't believe that wasn't the first place they looked when a car full of people "disappeared"...let's see, we've got basically a highway straight road that ends suddenly and drops into a deep lake...nah, couldn't be there. Let's keep looking in the trees.

Looking at the current aerials of the area the road leading up to the ramp is very curvy. I can see how a kid in a new Camaro might want to show off to his friends and go fast on a curvy road.

The other car was an older couple. It does not seem likely that he was speeding.

It is not a straight road and it is not a deep lake. And there are a lot of lakes around.

My dad grew up in Florida where canals are all over the place. A car went off the road and sunk in a canal.

When they pulled it up, they found two more cars underneath it.

Both cars were from nearby towns, but both were 20-40miles away from home. Its highly possible that they didn't know the area. And like glen pointed out, there are a LOT of lakes and rivers around, in that time it would have been hard to search any of them, let alone all of them not knowing where to start...

The rear of the SS is mangled, they went in backwards, 40 year old car with 40 year old headlights on a dark road, probably overdrove the head lights and had an "Oh ****" moment, locked em on a slippery ramp and spun in backwards. Very well may have snapped their necks or if they were not wearing belts knocked them unconscious.
