Home Burglary ...Just The Facts Mam

Monday morning I see our shed door open and some items outside not the way I left it. My Stihl chain saw and my Titan airless sprayer were stolen. We pull up our video camera system and at 5:15:46 AM we can see the guy open the shed and take my property. Sheriff wants copies and we watch all angles and we see the guy in my neighbors car also. Fast forward to today and the Sheriff stops by for more info and tells us the burglar left his cell phone in my neighbors car. The lifted several sets of his finger prints @ 3 separate locations of his 5 burglaries and the phone from Monday. Now they have people looking into his smart phone. Sheriff said don't replace anything yet.

Nice to have good LEOs working on it who actually care. I truly hope they nail the SOB and he does some hard time. Maybe I'm too cynical but I'd expect to never see your stuff again (probably already pawned off) and the perp to plea out or get a 15th second chance because he's poor and had a rough childhood.

Glad nobody got hurt and it was just a burglary.

Sorry for your loss. It really sucks.

Our victim's advocate came right out and told me no one gets jailed for property crimes, so forget it. The sheriff's deputies did a great job collecting evidence when I was robbed. They were great. The guy who stole from me got 10 days in jail and a $200 fine, all suspended pending good behavior - but the a**hole was already on probation. He knew, his lawyer knew, the judge knew, the prosecutor knew, everybody knew the "trial" was just a sham. If only he'd had a few flakes of weed on him you could hear the jail door slam in the next county. Since the budget cuts local LEO in my county doesn't even investigate property crimes on the weekends, they're all busy on drug busts and violent crimes.

This Just In....... My wife posted still pictures of the guy on our city web site and we have several people who have call and think they may know him, and want to come by to talk and watch the video.

This. Most of the time they just have you file a report over the phone.

Be careful who you let in to view the video. There is always the potential that who ever it is is an associate and not someone who wants to help you.

I would try to direct them to the police after you take name and other into. With info and they back out you can still send the police.

Good luck.

^^^ What Sook said about letting strangers into your house.

What type of lock is on the shed door and how did the guy defeat it?

In Greenville, SC, you can give the police video, and they can have fingerprints from their forensics team, and yet they still won't put the criminal in jail.

I hope your PD does better.

Too bad the CA cops won't look at video when a car tries to kill you on a bike......good luck on finding the thief.
