Check out this awesome Scirocco

I remember this car at the local autocrosses 15 years ago. One of my customers/ buddies, bought it for a song. This thing is clean, and beautiful. A turbo to boot.
The valve cover says callaway on it, and the turbo looks like it was done by the factory. I had no idea these even existed.
He changed the oil, and fuel filter, and now it wont start. I'll probably look at it this weekend. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1380131006.jpg

Love the brown. Love the seats. Love the basketweave gold wheels. So period correct.

And a big a$$ York compressor to boot! Jump the fuel pump relay.

Groesbeck Hurricane 09-25-2013 10:58 AM

I lusted after a Wolfsburg Edition one of those decades ago!!!! I could not afford the insurance..... They were quick and fun to drive!

Good looking period car. I wish for the best on this and hope you update us soon.

My first thought. I could not hear the pumps running when I cranked it.

Those seats look exactly like Mustang seats from the 80s. They had them in that color too.

I have a set of those seats sitting at my shop for sale......I can take pics when I get back from vacation....if interested pm me...

Great driving car....I had an early one that came choked down with a carb set-up to meet emissions.....It really came alive when I put on an aftermarket carb.

Super cool little cars. I had a 79 for a summer until my brother crashed it.

TimT 09-25-2013 02:50 PM

I had one, a '77 was dark blue metallic..

I built the engine using bits from Drake Engineering, hot cam , hi-comp pistons (Arias I think), ported heads, adjustable cam sprocket, headers, Liestritz sport exhaust...the whole shebang....

BBS wheels, BFG Comp TAs, Konis, sway bars etc.etc. etc... Similar Recaros (mine were all black)

Alpine stereo w/ infinity drivers all around

I was a great car, fast as hell, and handled like it was on rails..

Unfortunately I balled up pretty well on a Drive to Killington....

The car posted in the pic is missing one of the most popular mods from that era...

A Kamei front spoiler.. ;)

TimT 09-25-2013 03:10 PM

Ha!!

I found someone who scanned one of the Drake catalogs....

Mine was a stage 3 build ... a whopping 129 HP

Drake Engineering

I had one, an S. One of my favorite and most reliable cars. Used to auto x it. These first gen cars are impossible to find. The 16v ones are a little more available.

jtfreels 09-25-2013 05:17 PM

Had one that looked just like that even the lovers but not the engine.

One of the best looking small cars ever made, from the great Giorgetto Giugiaro.

bivenator 09-25-2013 06:02 PM

I had a brown one, at the end of its life cycle. Bought mine for 1500 which was a lot of dough for me in 83. I think it was a 76 model.
