Oktoberfest '13

My first was at Kitchener Waterloo in Canada, this one in Ohio is the closest to me.

I was a bit early to Oktoberfest in Munich last year (late August...LOL), but really enjoyed the biergartens....maybe too much.
Anyway I go to at least one Oktoberfest event near me every year. One two weeks ago and the next this weekend....yeah baby !! Love the food, beer,music, and the atmosphere. Although I wish I was back in Munich.

I get homesick for those fresh Weisswurst, fresh "Laugen Prezel", and that original Octoberfest beer fresh from the barrel.

I was at the Munich Oktoberfest in the mid 70's(only attended as I got free air tickets and expenses as a business perk). A bigger display of sheer greed and piggery I've never seen before or since anywhere in the world. And I couldn't help wondering back then how many of the attendees had been members of the Nazi party.
Anyway you could get to conduct the oompah band if you bought the bandsmen a round of drinks. One of our party was quite an exhibitionist(and a very well known member of the television business) and he got to conduct the tune to which the Allies sung 'Hitler has only got one ball etc' .All the English and all the visitors from other English speaking countries joined in at the top of their voices-to the evident fury of most of the Germans. He started taking off his clothes whilst conducting and the bouncers only succeeded in reaching him when he was about to remove his underpants. That episode was the only amusing part of the whole proceedings for me.

Oktoberfest 2011. My wife is a Brewing Chemist, so this was a "Business Trip" for field work. Augustiner was a stated objective based on her insider information.

Augustiner Brau is by far the best bier at Oktoberfest, if not one of the best in the entire World.

The Augustiner-Keller Bier Garten was were my son and I went in Munich last year. The food and bier were fantastic !

I go to this one almost every year.
It has more of a "town fair with beer" vibe, though Oktoberfest Walhalla South Carolina I may try this one for a change: 43rd Annual Oktoberfest | Helen, Georgia
