As i get older.....I now do not go see movies with actors I can not stand.
Tom cruise is on my list of -I CANT STANDS HIM !-

Tobra 10-26-2013 07:00 PM

James Coburn was a student of Bruce Lee, and Bruce Lee kicked Chuck Norris' ass at the Colliseum. I don't thnk there is a current equivalent person, I am just sayin'

Ha, I don't care for movies with Mr Cruise in them either

widgeon13 10-27-2013 05:04 PM

A young Barry Newman would be a good choice but unfortunately, not available.

Don't know why, but I can see Hugh Jackman in this role.

intakexhaust 10-28-2013 10:01 AM

Well, he is a car guy and his initials are A.C..

Cruise bombed in Reacher. A bald Hugh Jackman would have probably worked for that role.

Nostril Cheese 10-28-2013 10:24 AM

Cruise does a really good performance every now and then; Magnolia, Collateral.

Hell, he even pulled off Lestat. It would be interesting to see what he could do as a good ol boy.

berettafan 10-28-2013 10:25 AM

I heard the film was really just going to be a 1 1/2 hr infomercial for whatever crap carroll is selling his name for now.

berettafan 10-28-2013 10:25 AM

OMG Collateral was a fantastic movie.

Based on the 1966 battle between Ford and Ferrari

Carroll's dead bro.

berettafan 10-28-2013 11:01 AM

Sorry, Carroll's estate is selling now.

Oh, wait, that must be the movie itself.

IMO the guy is one of the most overhyped people in the automotive world. Add to that the fact that he whored his name out for anyone with a checkbook and the idea of a movie about him has zero appeal to me.

Nostril Cheese 10-28-2013 11:41 AM

Just because..

Not trying to be snippy or rude, so please don't take it that way, but I am just curious why someone with zero interest in this topic would open the thread?

 Guessing you don't know much of the late Mr. Shelby. The man well deserves highest accolades among automotive / racing icons here and abroad.

From small time to earning business with worldwide automotive giants he was a super businessman. Not only that, those individuals fortunate to own one of his original creations surely appreciate the soaring values. And on the low end, believe it or not collectors love those Shelby Chrysler Omni's.

Also, his personal battles of continuous ailing health conditions through most of his life is most commendable and inspiring. Many who have had the same battles give up.

I might be incorrect but thought the movie is to be based on the book and 1966 battle of Ford and Ferrari.

Shelby was a successful racer first, and then when his heart problem forced his retirement from the cockpit he became a successful businessman. Self-promoter? Hell yes, one of the best. Go-getter? Hell yes, one of the best. Did he do and accomplish what he set out to do? Hell yes and with a style that you either loved or hated. I tend to think that if you hated him you either were beaten by him or don't like Fords or are just uninformed.

So many other actors but him please. Cruise that is.

If Adam Carrolla took some more acting lessons (I have seen the hammer, have you?), he actually could do it. Check out the hammer. It's not bad, but low budget yes. And he probably did a better job than cruise since anything since the 90's. and he does actually look like Cs. I never would have thought of that...good one int/exh. Lets start a petition....

Tobra 04-02-2015 07:49 PM

Mr Shelby was truly the cat's ass WRT automobiles. I can think of more than a couple of his creations that I would love to have in my stable.

Seems to me that particular chicken rancher was a tall drink of water.
It does look like Mr Cruise already has the buck teeth going. They could just make all the cars 7/8 size a la Mr Yunick, so he would look the right size standing next to them. Actually the Smokey Yunick Story would be a pretty good movie I bet, how tall was Smokey?

rusnak 04-02-2015 07:56 PM

I think a movie about Max Balchowski and "Old Yeller" the junkyard car would make a MUCH better movie story.

biosurfer1 04-02-2015 08:16 PM

We're getting a hell of a range of actor ages here...is the movie going to be young Shelby, old Shelby or both?
