I don't see it as hate. I used to like Cruise a lot. On and off screen I thought he was a compelling guy. Quite a gear head too. I don't hate the guy, no sour grapes. On the contrary, it is a commentary on how such a great actor can be taken in by something as insidious as Scientology. This cult masquerading as a religion is a hateful, vindictive dangerous group of narcissists that destroy people, families, marriages and anything else that dares to oppose or criticize it's activities.
By virtue of his celebrity, Cruise is the cult's most visible spokesperson. As such he is surly aware of the Scientology's misdeeds and alleged crimes. That he would still identify with such a farce makes him either a total stooge or willing co-conspirator to a complete sociopath (David Miscavige - Scientology leader). Either one is enough to convince me to keep my $15 and watch a different movie.
