Vettel domination
I can't take it any longer. I'm not even going to watch today's race. I'm a die-hard F1 fan, but this is getting to be too much. I sure hope things are mixed up next year!
The Maldonado sabotage claims are hilarious!

I haven't watched the last couple and, really, it's been okay.

If I were Frank Williams, I'd bench the illite turd in Brazil and let the reserve driver have some time in the car.
You missed a fairly boring race... JR |

Great race, and frankly, Vettel would probably be dominating if given the Lotus or Ferrari, maybe even the Merc.

I watched the race today... fairly typical Vettel parading. Decent action in P2 through P10 or so.
Hopefully the new regs next year will tighten up the competition.

But today? Dull in the extreme. Very disappointed that Kovalainen didn't show better.

I passed on watching the race as well. Just like in the Schumi years, watching one car, one driver win every race isn't exciting.

I must have been watching a different race than everyone else. I saw a ton of footage on P2-12. A lot more than on P1. I wonder if it was boring to watch Jim Clark or Senna.
That said, I will turn off a hockey game if its a blowout even if my team is winning. With racing, good coverage will make a blowout win at P1 decent to watch.

I also really enjoyed the race. The elevation on COTA makes for great racing. Lots of tire smoke from trying to get closer to the edge than the guy next to you. Some pretty amazing racing went on today. ^^ For those that do not like seeing the same driver win 7 races in a row, go watch NASCAR....pretty hard for a driver to do that over there these days.

Like watching Gretzky was boring. Or Johnson. Or Federer. Or McEnroe. He's a dominant force. Webber has the same car - that's the talent difference. Anyway, that's my view. Lots of good racing going on in the pack. Button to score a point; Alonso to save his position on dead tires.
I've also noticed his PR firm is now working overdrive to humanize him. Anyway, it's great to see 100K in the US to see F1. There's hope.

I watch every race. Don't care that Vettel will be off the front even before the DRS is enabled. There are 21 other cars and it's F1. That's reason enough for me to be entertained.
It is interesting to see the image reshaping that is going on. |

Several exciting fights down stream. Not my favorite track though. The French lad is doing spectacular.

Vettel didn't get much camera time actually.

I enjoyed watching Schumacher dominate during his era, because there was so much passion and enjoyment in him and the Ferrari team. They seemed to be truly in awe of what they were doing. I view the Seb/Newey/Horner thing as something entirely different. Its like they're running a computer program, and look satisfied when the outcome is as predicted, rather than truly amazed and joyous. Just seems manufactured and methodical to me, which is fine, but not really inspiring. I'm ready for a change

Best years have been those in which at least two drivers from different teams fought hard for the championship. These one man shows up front, race after race, year after year are boring.
Yes, there is plenty of racing going on deeper in the field, which is kind of fun to watch, but it needs to be happening up front too. |

I respect what Vettel has accomplished in his Newey designed car, I truly believe they have some very innovative methods to do some things (like get the power down a little earlier coming out of corners) that in combo is pretty close to unbeatable.....but it is not my idea of F1 racing......the model of getting out in front outside of DRS range (a method of passing I do not like), making tires guaranteed to wear out (to create a spectacle) and all sorts of rules and enforcement (thank you Nazi Max) that essentially take the drivers out of the picture in a big way.
What Red bull is, in my opinion, is a rules optimizer...as was said, like a computer programme, no passion, no joy except from the very likeable Mr. Vettel. I want the Villeneuve banzai racing, the rivalry between Senna and Prost, Lauda and Hunt with cars that every weekend are pushing the edge of technology and driving. I have said for a while, get rid of most of the aero, modernize some of the rules (e.g. the 13 inch wheels) and just get on with unlimited racing. ...but we got to get Bernie in prison first.... The passion, grit and fire in those races have eclipsed anything I've seen in F1 in 2013.

+1 on that. You cannot even compare the 2 series. The MotoGP guys are completely whack!

Let's hope that Vettel's radio comment is prophetic. It will not last forever.
