Can you report an auction on eBay?

Here's the ad
Porsche 912 Base | eBay

I've seen the car, it's 20 minutes away from me, not in Jackson heights, NY.

The description:
Hello everyone, for sale is a 1968 Porsche 912 shell only. Vehicle does not include engine or transmission as well as glass windows. This vehicle has slight rust through out the car. Vehicle has been primed and half way worked on until just recently picked up another project car. This vehicle is worth restoring , great project car, throw an engine and tranny and it's ready to go! Original rims, car was imported from Germany, clean and clear title with VIN #12801986 with still visible stamped matching vin on the car. This is a project car and for those who knows about this car knows it's value..

bold is mine. this car has more rust than this 912 I just picked up. The obvious counterpoint is a combination of caveat emptor and you can't stick your nose in other people's business, but this is a clear case of fraud in the description of the car. Just want to save someone else a ton of trouble.

That will not buff out.

There should be some way to report fraud to them.

Obvious they threw a coat of primer on to try and make it look better but even in those pics you can see the thing has rust issues.

the primer is rattle can BION. they just bombed it.

The rust is structural, serious structural, like you wouldn't even want to restore this car. Good for the roof, parts of the rear quarters and miscellaneous here and there.

this is the car I posted here a few weeks ago on an unrelated thread. this guy thinks the front brake calipers are worth $1600. They are worth about $200 tops as cores. Owner, younger guy, is seriously sleazy.

$1,600 for a frozen calipers? This is what happens if you don't know much about cars and you watch all those car programs on tv. Everything you own is worth something and everything you want to purchase is worth nothing. LOL

You can report the auction as a misrepresentation of location, or misrepresentation of vehicle description.

For misrepresentation of location, on the report page click "Listing practices", under that click "Other listing practices", and under that click "Item location misrepresentation."

For vehicle misrepresentation, click "Listing practices", then click "Vehicle misrepresentation", then click "Vehicle misrepresentation."

Being that vehicle descriptions are subjective, your best bet may be with the location, especially if you detail just exactly where the vehicle is located.

it's getting cut up and anything of use, sold. I got it for the 902/02 901. Unfortunately a package deal.

A 74 I am finishing up this weekend. have to cut rear seats out and pull the harness.

The last thing eBay wants is informed bidders. Back in the olden days, I used to warn bidders about bogus auctions; eventually eBay put a stop to that.

Just to put the reporting in perspective for Shaun, I regularly report obvious scam ebay ads for cars and, at best, they are inconsistent in removing them. Some are left for the duration of the ad time, others are removed within 48hrs. Guess it depends on the violation or explanation of the offending ad.

He did modify the description to up the rust eval since your first copy:

The seller has (2) feedbacks.

Seller says "has medium rust through out car."

Anyone dumb enough to buy this without due diligence deserves what he gets, IMHO.
