Chairs are new. If I could do it over again, I'd probably go for replicas, though. They're stupid expensive for the knoll units. Look on eBay for replicas. They're "Saarinen tulip chairs" if ya didn't know the exact style

My cousin had his wedding reception there--awesome place. You could stand in the fireplaces. I understand they used it as Gatsby's house in the Redford version. Great view of the water and some of the other homes on the "boardwalk" or whatever they called the walking trail along the coast.

The Breakers wasn't used at all in The Great Gatsby. Different rooms from Marble House and Rose Cliff were in the movie representing Gatsby's house. The walking trail is called cliff walk.

That's Jackson Browne's home. My welder lives about two blocks from there. I am 2 exits away. Its actually Highland park, Los Angeles. I have always like to see it but never seem to have time when they're open for tours.

Please tell me more about this thing. My architect don't want to deal with this type off the wall buildings. I think its fun and out of the box for sure.

That one's in Upland or Claremont somewhere? I remember reading about it when we were working on ours for a client.

Oops, what happened to that Greene and Greene?

How about Lautner Chemosphere?

I did almost all the woodwork but the bedroom furniture and the kitchen on the interior during the restoration. I am glad they decided to keep the original kitchen and repaired it. That was a pain in the ass in itself. A pocket door slid into a steel frame when shut, it followed the contour of the crazy curve of the parallam with 1/16" gap all around. This damn thing was 10' tall. It had to build and fitted on site. All the Ash panels were numbered pieces. Thinking back it was fun and I spend many nights trying to finish.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1441094266.jpg

Look:

Browne's grandfather built it, Jackson lived there for a time, but I think his brother lives there now.

And you're right, those other shots were from Claremont.

More of the only Greene & Greene in Claremont:

Those boxes are only about 7-feet wide, and 7'-6" tall.

I would not put convicted felons in them, human rights organizations would be all over me.

Stacking a bunch of them together has resulted in some wonderful, whimsical spaces. Both living, and business applications have found these to be great answers to particular needs.

Love those old photos. I had done a bunch of research when we work on the Greene and Greene. Came across an old photo to the house. It was a dirt road with nothing else around the house but the san Gabriel mts in the background and a horse drawn wagon in front of the house. It must be the owner's ride down to downtown Pasadena?
