My cousin had his wedding reception there--awesome place. You could stand in the fireplaces. I understand they used it as Gatsby's house in the Redford version. Great view of the water and some of the other homes on the "boardwalk" or whatever they called the walking trail along the coast.

welp, I finally did it. after searching (really, for years) I found my suitable house. will be closing on January 15th.
on an acre in Meridian Hills/Williams Creek on the north side of indy, gated and about 3200 sq feet, with a 5 car garage (three doors...but the size of a 5 car garage). wooded lot with a stream through the backyard, I found this mid-century gem...... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

only pics I have are from the realtor...believe it or not, I went into contract without seeing the place in person. the garage pics were at night, and not very good. I have it written in the contract that I need to personally inspect it (which I will be doing next week) for the sale to take place. this was a house that I didn't have time to wait...I had to jump on it. im still in so-cal, so im flying home for a day next weekend to do my walkthrough.

Take a roof inspector with you....and see if there is an Austin Powers remake planned any time soon.

UPDATE:
Flew into Indy last weekend....did my inspection, as well as the official inspection with my engineer. The creek is right next to the house, but it has never flooded. Of course, I still require flood insurance (which has skyrocketed in the last year...thanks FEMA!) The house is absolutely sublime. I hopped on the roof with the inspector. The roof isn't flat but is designed to flow to one side only, which drains. Really neat design. My inspector has done over 4500 inspections in the Indy area, and he said this house, hands down, is the most unique, with some of the highest quality construction he's seen. All wiring and plumbing is done above a commercial level. No expenses were spared in this construction (which goes against the mid-century mentality of lower cost, efficient construction). No furniture is included....the Dr Owner took a new position and hasn't lived in the house since this summer. They had the house staged with traditional furniture, and it still looked nice. The house has had 3 owners, all doctors. The first two owners were famous in their field, the last Dr, not so much. I close on January 15th. here are some pics from Sunday... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

NOTE in Newport Rhode Island, the trail adjacent to the ocean where all the mansions are located is known as "The Cliff Walk".
