I had to renew my DD license tag.
I renewed the tag for my El Camino today.
I was in and out in under 5 minutes. $24.60 total. The tag place was 1/4 mile off my route for another errand.

Did that back in Nov, and found another reason to like Nevada: Renew your vehicle registration with a DMV machine at the 24 hour grocery store. You put in your plate number and pay the fee, it spits out your updated registration and a new sticker for your license plate.
Renewed two vehicles in about 5 minutes. That would have been an afternoon off work and a 4 hour ordeal at the CA DMV. Another thing, I was a few weeks late, and my new expiration date was 12 months from the data I renewed, not the date the old tag expired. |

One benefit to living in a small town. At it's busiest I've only had to wait one time, and that was maybe 3 or 4 minutes. All the girls that work there know me, are pleasant, helpful and quick. Oh, yeah...no smog/emissions testing either.

I always do mine online, from the comfort of my living room. Only 36.00 for passenger cars, but the dually stings a little bit at $ 200.00

In Wisconsin for renewing your tags you get a bill in the mail then after you send a check in you get your tags in the mail. No waiting in line at all.

Our renewals are easy, they mail you paperwork that you return with a check and proof of insurance, new sticker shows up in the mail. New title work involves substantial DMV asspain, though registering my wife's new Mazda5 took a surprisingly short 30 minutes out of my day.
True pain is the driver's license office, where wait times are frequently more than 8 hours. It is so bad that they created a text based online system where you can check in virtually, but not actually go into the office until your turn is near. I did so when my turn was "20 minutes" away and it still took almost two hours. Obviously expanding their local system of offices to actually meet capacity makes too much sense. I can't wait until the same level of thoughtful efficiency is applied to our health care system. ![]()

CA DMV is not a place you want to be. Thankfully vehicle registration renewals are online and simple. If you need a new registration or DL then there is an online appointment system which can save time...or your local AAA office.

Renewals here are online....New registration involves waiting at the county treasurers office for 2 hours then driving across town to wait at the DMV for two more hours...
