I am thinking of making some speaker changes, do you have any knowledge of Tannoy speakers? I have some old Yamaha stuff and looking to maybe make some changes. Any recomendations?

$100 for about a ton of bricks and masonry. The granddaughter helped load and unload. Good thing. I had covid last week. Still feeling it.

Hey Les......I've never had covid but would recommend you take Bill's advice and take it easy, brother.

Nice score on the wall materials! SmileWavy

A month? It took me almost a year to really recover. I still have long covid symptoms.

Les, if you were here, I'd tell you to have someone come and pickup all my split face blocks. Never used and I have hundreds of them!

Prices on old electronics have started to rise, the real vintage stuff-Sansui, Marantz, etc in wood cabs have gotten high. My go to's for non-exotic electronics have always been NAD from the 90's or Adcom (the 555 is legendary and arond 350-450 used). Everything that old is subject to some issues these days, but aside from sticky output relay protection the NAD's seem bulletproof and the Adcoms hold up very well.

Tannoy are typically british speakers. Very clean and neutral, and pretty open sounding for a standard box design. The company has recently gone thru a "revival" and is producing some top notch stuff at prices to match...

Hey guys, thanks for the concern. In the past 4 years, I've been vaccinated each year, as have the wife and granddaughter. Also, I suspect the virus has been sort of assimilated into the populace so its effects aren't quite so severe. I admit I have a mild sensation of fatigue, but am able to carry on more or less as normal since Monday. Today I got the new plastic fabric roof on the granddaughter's play house (with her help), finished up the new oarlock mounts for the dingy and got the summer wheels on the wife's car. In a half hour I am heading to a jam session. :D
I suspect getting bricks from the Islands to Nova Scotia might be more trouble than even I would consider. ;)

Best to All
Les

Greg, I like NAD amps but I don't know much about them. I do like my Little NAD from the dump shop. What are your favorite NAD amps as I'm looking to buy another one? thanks, Bill.

also a friend was raving about his Marantz PM6003.

oldE 04-20-2024 02:55 PM

Some say NADs are the best.
Go NADs, Go.NADs, Go!

My taste in NAD runs towards the older stuff, my personal fave was the old 2200-200wpc, lots of dynamic headroom, and a soft clipping feature. Not an integrated amp, so you need a preamp or streamer/volume control.

Some of my better recent scores. Mower and cool old vacuum on the curb . They were moving. The Vacuum works fine. The mower hadnt been run in a few years I could tell. Just needed a good servicing carb clean and a new used tire and its all good. The chop saw also found on the curb down the road the guy always puts scrap out. He said what was wrong with it but I couldnt hear him. It had a stone blade on it I put a metal blade on and cut a bunch with it today works fine the gearbox sounds pretty dry im going to pull it apart and grease it. The crossman 622 was peeking out of my neighbors trash can its just missing the clip. I brought it home on my bicycle :D The winch I think I showed before got it for free on a scrap haul Im still working on it I cant get the motor to run the armature tests good and the grounds seem ok Im not sure how to test the field yet. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1714697905.JPG

I got a Baz score left on my sidewalk. On Saturday, someone left a window ac on my sidewalk. Yardmen came Sunday and ckeaned around it. Called our Refuse service about illegal dumping and the guy said they'll pick it up. I told the guy don't worry, I'll move it because that would have been rewarding a guy for illegal dumping. He told me he needed to take a pic of it so I told him I'll clear it out later. He emailed back and said he needed to take a pic of it cleared. No problem, I'll move it.

So I move it and it looks to be in good shape. Had it on the handtruck so I plugged it in to a storage unit outlet. Started up slightly noisy, then quieted down. Put it down flat so the oil and refrigerant goes in the right place. Turn on again and cold air!

I moved it to my garage in town and I can work in 15k btus of ac comfort. lol

Nice im always skeptical of a/c units because they are so often full of mold and nastiness. I usually take the cover off and have a good look at the condensers and such. We rarely even use a/c. Just July usually put a unit in one window and it cools enough of the house. Still I have a half dozen good ones in the basement waiting for their turn. Gave one to my neighbor last year because his menace kid dropped one out the 2nd story window.

Nice score on the AC unit.

I have a window AC unit in my garage and it's great! Put it in last years after 27 years here! I have it on a timer so it doesn't run all the time. It's only a 6K BTU so very cost effective.

WPOZZZ 05-02-2024 08:10 PM

Here's the pics of the ac. Filter was clean. Stuck it on a stainless kitchen cart. Just need to clean it up. Tired after lifting that up. 100+ lbs.

Some projects so I can have some fun with the granddaughter.
Lego Countach and Lego Lotus were $7 each. The boxes were damaged, but everything was there.

The central platform for the Lambo was bent in one corner, but two minutes with a hair dryer fixed that.
The other score was a solar powered motorized kit which can be built in numerous ways.

Knowing her she will want to build the T Rex.;)

Save yourself the trouble and toss the solar kit. My son has had a couple versions of that kit(all exactly the same parts). in my opinion its junk after building the models.

My garage does not have a window, just a 16 foot door. I wish I could install a window AC.

How hard is it to cut a hole?

A mini-split might be the ticket then.

I want to put one in mine and actually have already bought it. Timing just hasn't been right for the install. Plus I'm not quite ready for it yet. This window unit does what's needed in the meantime.
