Well, not that good, but another outstanding deal!

911dean 11-10-2013 07:21 AM

Nice...Silver Face w/ drip edge. Here's its little brother, I wouldn't sell it for $500.

Im serious. That is a serious amp. If they kept that amp then they probably kept a guitar to go with it. Go buy everything music related they still have. They might have an old tele sitting in the corner of the garage or stuffed under a bed somewhere.

I've trolled craigslist, garage sales, pawn shops and chased every possible lead I have ever come across looking for guitar deals like this for years and never found anything cooler than a '70s Gibson Marauder with a broken neck and a '50s Les Paul asking price. 15yrs ago it was different but finding a desirable guitar or amp for at a garage sale is almost unheard of any more.

Hey Dean, That thing is really cute!

VaSteve 11-10-2013 08:56 AM

Where is she finding this stuff? All we have in my neighborhood is kids clothes and VCR tapes.

Here's the same as the first one:
1969 Super Reverb - Guitars and Gear For Sale

That's about all we usually find at our garage sales as well...

I am thinking now that my Super Reverb is a 68' model or older, the reason why is because it has an aluminum trim going around the silverface.

I am suprised that Bassman can be used for Bass or guitar. Sounds really nice on this video. For some reason though, his looks to be half the size of mine...

Not trying to rub it in :D But I just checked inside the "Super Reverb" amp and it does have the AB763 "Blackface" circuit Sweet!!!

Shuie 11-10-2013 10:09 AM

Awesome! Get a good amp tech to go through it. They are great sounding amps.

I'm pretty sure Silver Face amps with drip edge are 68's and have Black Face circuitry. Nice find for sure.

Yes...The champ is cute, sounds great and perfect for a bedroom. I purchased it from the original owner, but he knew it was worth something.

targa911S 11-10-2013 01:44 PM

Sweet Jesus $20 for the bassman....??

Shuie 11-10-2013 02:07 PM

Its a '70s Bassman 10. It's still a nice score for today and a lot of amp for $20. The drip edge Super for $25 yesterday was way better :D

Bill, if you go back to this place tomorrow and find something like a Quad Reverb or a blackguard Telecaster or Esquire for less than $50 I am going to put you on my ignore list :)

lm6y 11-10-2013 02:30 PM

I'm looking at the Bassman's brother. Mine's a '74. Nice finds!

Nope, Twineee Dollazzzzzzz :D

I did some looking around on the mics and I think that they are precursors to the SM57 & SM58 models. The silver one has a short cord on it and I have never seen that type of setup before. You would think that it would have two pins or two holes in the hookup point, but it doesn't... It looks like it just has a single pole connection.

here is a pic of it. Anyone familiar with this style connection? I was thinking about taking it apart and putting about a 20ft cord with a regular 1/4" plug connection on it.

Also, I agree that I should have the amps checked out, but do you think that it would be okay to just fire them up once to see how they sound? Or should I just wait?

Wait. You wouldnt try to start a car that has been sitting for 20 years without checking out things, would you?

That's true, I will wait. I just hate to! :) Any idea on the mic hook up?

Dude, don't even THINK of plugging those in until you have them sorted. Seriously, you have several thousand dollars in amps there, spend a few hundred and get them checked out.

Last thing we want to see is the picture of one of them burnt out because something blew when you plugged it in.

Picked up this pair of JBL 4311s for $100. In very good shape, considering they're 30 years old. They weigh about 40lbs each.
