A decent score. Brand new (used once, it looks like) bolt cutters for a ten-spot.

I'll take that deal.

Nice score on the bolt cutters, Herr Oberst!

Same with all the others on this page...too many to name....lol....you know who you are!

Bugs - on the towels - I don't believe any are from a resort. All private and like I said fell off the back of the little carts they drive around.....

I have many of the style of stands you are describing and I can say that unless they were severely defective, it would be impossible to move the little handles with the weight of a vehicle on them. They are the standard type of JS for decades.

Same here with the jack stands......over many years of use......never an issue with the ones with handle levers......

We had a nice heavy rain storm this afternoon. Chased everyone off the beach! :p

Tide was low at 6:30pm so great time for a beach bike ride. On my way there I noticed some boxes and styrafoam hunks piled up at the end of a driveway right at the corner where I turn to get onto the beach. I rode over and there were 4 ceiling fans curbside but behind all the boxes, etc. Whomever did the uninstall took care to keep everything together. I'm assuming they all work but homeowner just wanted to replace since these had some exterior pitting and surface corrosion. Guess it's possible one stopped working and they replaced them all so they'd maintain all matching styles....don't know. I'll find out soon enough.

I went on my bike ride - which was fantastic, BTW - then came home and took the Silverado over to pick them up. Brought 'em home and put under my canopy in case it rains again tonight.

I may end up using these for my back patio. Fans come in so handy in this climate!

Well - those fans look a LOT like the frond style bladed fans we bought to install when we had our back deck expanded and screen enclosed. Unfortunately - they were the worst fans we've ever had! You could stand directly underneath them while on high and couldn't feel but the very slightest breeze. After no more than 5 minutes of operation, I took all 3 of them down and returned them to Lowes and bought fans with "regular" style blades. We are much happier now.

Those look like they at least got some use - so maybe they'll be okay.

Interesting - thanks for the comments, Mark!

I found them online:
Monte Carlo 52" Wet Rated Indoor / Outdoor Ceiling Fan

Looks like they run around $200 each. I like that they are wet rated!

I did a furniture upgrade back in '04-'05 and replaced the 3 ceiling fans here with Hampton Bays with woven paddles. They are a little wider and shorter than these I got yesterday but have performed well for me, so we'll see.

Found this on FB marketplace for $500. Put in a $58 battery, aired up the tires and drove it home. 138000 miles on it. Needs a passenger side window and some serious cleaning. Should get an easy $1500 for it.

Wow....$500 is a steal for that!
I bet you could double that $1500...or more.

The fans you picked up Baz, look to me like they don't have any 'pitch' to them so will slice the air just fine but won't 'move' much air up or down.

Just an observation from the cheap seats out west here.:D

The cheapest I found a similar van was $1700 and it had 250k miles. If it cleans up nice I will list it for $2000. I go for the quick sale, and like the buyer to feel good about the purchase. It may take a while to get it cleaned up. It it just too hot to work outside.

Baz 07-27-2023 03:12 PM

Nice score on the van, Jack! Clean her up and go for the $2K for sure. Make sure you also add "OBO" to give potential buyers some hope! ;)

Also, considering this heat as you said, maybe consider hiring a shop to do the detailing - whatever it costs just add it to your selling price....

Scott - I will let you know about the fans once I get them up.

I had some plastic, palm shaped ceiling fan covers installed in our cabin. I initially thought they were the blades, but upon further examination, they were just plastic covers.
I took them off and the fan looks and works great now.

Picked up a 1990 Miata on Saturday. It has been sitting since 2018. Trailered it home. Pulled the plugs put oil in cylinders let it sit overnight and cleaned all the rodent mess. Took a battery out of another car to see if it would turn over. It didn't. Had a blown main fuse that I picked up this morning. Engine spun over.
Did a compression check 170-179 on all cylinders. Put some used plugs that I had in and added some starter fluid. Car fired right up. Sounds sweet. I paid $200 for the car and 5.29 for the fuse.

Tried to post pictures but they would not work.

Bernie

herr_oberst 07-30-2023 05:52 PM

Wow. I hate you. A 200 dollar Miata that runs!

Baz 08-02-2023 11:26 AM

Yes indeed....good score on that Miata, Bernie! SmileWavy

Left curbside at an upscale place around the corner......all of this was in one of those big cloth grocery bags........

Lazy susans.....I don't know what those things are with the Japanese print......those socks were new in the package - very comfy! Cool turtle wind chimes - around $26 from Amazon new.

Scott Douglas 08-02-2023 12:14 PM

I bet that Miata is a totally wasted looking piece of junk and that's why the pictures wouldn't work.
Pelican does have its standards ya know.
