Oh for fecks sake Bill those are major scores! I am a Super Reverb fan and that amp will take you all the way to SRV town if you got the chops.
Have the amp tested, keep the stock tubes if still within spec and some fresh filter caps should get her current. The tube chart on the inside wall of the amp will tell you which circuit you have. They are also ink-stamped with a letter code which gives mfg date. Mine is Feb 64 but I paid a bit more for it. :) The other guys are right, you may want to go back there and see if there are any old dusty guitars in the attic or closets they need gone. That ugly old 52 Esquire or 59 Les Paul might be worth a couple hundred bucks. |
I scored a 8 FOOT HOLLINGSWORTH longboard today:cool:http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1402691341.jpg

I had the same set of JBLs that I brought back from my overseas tour of duty 28 years ago! Great speakers but heavy as hell.

Been looking for a set of alloy winter wheels for the new Venza.
Was up at 5am this morning and found a set of 19s advertised for a very low price including the TPMS sensors. I sent a response to the ad and waited until 8 am and phoned the number listed. Answered on the first ring and jumped in the truck and picked them up. Love a good Kijiji score.... Pretty exciting. Took the wheels to the dealer I purchased the car at and used a service credit to help purchase the Blizzak winters for them. Feel like I made out like a bandit today... Wanted to get this done as winter could be a day, week or month away.... Hoping for at least a month. |
My best garage sale find 15 years ago was a Honda 125ATC 3 wheeler with the 2 speed axle, electric (AND) pull start, and good paint and seat. The woman putting on the garage sale had $100 on it, I offered $50 because she couldn't get it started. As I was loading it up after paying for it, the husband came home and completely lost it when she told him the price. I just drove off smiling.
After replacing a fouled plug and distributing a can of fix-a-flat green goo, I rode this ATV for the next 12 years, and then sold it for $400. |
The microphone with the "odd" hookup is a high-z mic.
You can get adapters to hook it up with a 3 pin cannon type plug. Normal hook up is a 1/4" TRS. Many newer boards (Mackie) will still take a 1/4" TRS high-z hookup. All of these were great scores, but you already knew that. Carter |
I assume we can put flea market finds here too?
Found this thermometer at an outdoor flea market in Missouri recently. It’s an advertising piece for a company in California. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1412631546.jpg Marked: “The Key to good luck. Harry Crowe Hardware and Electrical Works, Tulare Cal. 90 - Phone - 90 We know the pumping plant business” ________________________ What immediately caught my eye was the ’two-digit’ (90) phone number. A quick look on the inter-web and I see Mr. Crowe was probably doing business as early as the 1920‘s. The piece is stamped tin, has lost some plating and worst of all the glass thermometer has gotten cracked and lost its mercury. Still - kinda’ neat old advertising memorabilia. |
Two weekends ago I was pulling out of our development and saw a garage sale being setup. Didn't really think much of it. While I was running some errands I thought what the heck I'll stop on my way back. A few hours had passed so didn't expect much to be left. I really wasn't looking for anything but my wife and I about a month ago talked about getting a hardshell rooftop carrier. I pulled into the road and parked the car near the house. As I'm walking up I see a hardshell roof carrier ! I start looking it over it's a Sears Cargo X in very good shape. No cracks and only minimal dead bugs on it. The seller comes over and starts telling me about it, I ask if he has the keys because it is locked. Five minutes later he comes out with two keys neither works in the locks. He looks at me and says " I just want the damn thing out of here will you take it for free " ? I said sure. Now keep in mind the key number is stamped on the locks. An internet search says the keys are available for 6.00.....................sold !

That's a neat safe Lee. I bought one at a garage sale a few years back - but not as old as yours. Probably about 40-50 years of age. It turned into a minor restoration project.

When they sold and moved out I wanted to keep it. My buddy and I each lost our testicles moving it 5 feet. No way we were getting it up the stairs and out of the house. The new homeowners "inherited" it the same way my parents did. |
Thanks for saying that scott... Here I was thinking about seeing if lee was going to try to resale that safe... ;)

Sweet baby Jesus how did you find those amps for those prices? If you'd had an extra zero on the end they'd still have been epic scores. With two zeroes on the end they'd be fair prices. God almighty!
