Went to a yard sale that started EARLY - 6:00 am. I was the first one in the garage and saw a chainsaw in a plastic tray. Husqvarna 350 with an extra chain and bar, plus wrench and instruction manual. I asked the lady what she wanted for it - $10!

Got it home and it started on the second pull. I always wanted a Husky. (I don't have a pic of it, so this is one off the internet).

I don't know anything about the value of these things so...worth it or not?

Snap-On bottom box and a Mac top box never used in a professional environment. Cleaned and washed out and ready to go. The bottom box measures 50¼ by 20½ by 44 Tall and has 12 drawers. The top box is 26x15x19 and has 10 drawers. It's all cleaned/washed out and ready. I need $1500 and I won't separate. Not Negotiable. Last price drop or I will keep it.

As nice as they are, at $1,500 keep a spot for it. I don't think you will get over $1k.

People want shiny new boxes.

Ah. You were quoting someone's ad. I too was wondering why you were asking too much for the cabinets on this thread.
Keep looking.
Best

Top box not worth mentioning but a very serviceable unit. Bottom: how new? On the newer heavy duty ball bearing guides, that's a nice box. Older in sliders, not worth that kind of money.

It's just a name.

I can ask the guy but he seems pretty salty. For me, I hate having buyer's remorse so I would like buy something nice and not find myself looking again next week. I'd imagine having lots of company that way and I'm not bent for time.

How about a stainless steel sink saved from the dumpster? We're renovating the Labor & Delivery floor. We had 3 of these. It's about being at the right place at the right time. :D

Damn that thing will make an awesome garage sink. Would be even better plumbed up to a solvent tank. 😉

There is a bottom box like that on ebay for $4700.

Went to a church rummage sale tonight. Got a pair of rayban arcadia sunglasses for a quarter and a nintendo wii with 25 games for 5$

lendaddy 05-01-2019 07:30 PM

Those "Pro" rollers and tops are asinine for a hobbiest. Everything is relative so if $5k means nothing to you by all means have at it but in reality a $500 roller (or better yet a used pro unit) is a much better decision. You won't use these enough to even break in the pro stuff as an amateur and the consumer stuff will never fail you anyway. Absolute nonsense for a non-pro to buy that stuff, even most pros have no business paying that premium for the marginal performance upgrade. JMHO

*Edit: I've had my mid/high level Craftsman lowers (4 of them) for 20+ years and have never once said or thought to myself "damn, I wish these drawers performed better". The whole thing is silly

Craftsman used to make great boxes. That snapon/mac set up, in my area at least, would be a steal, I would snap that up in a hurry. Retail the bottom is about 6k Canadian and the mac somewhere north of a grand.

porsche930dude 05-02-2019 05:15 AM

my brother is a pro with a husky box . Hes got a 6$ snap-on badge on it works just as good. He likes it better than the snap-on because the drawers are deeper and it doesnt have the slide locks which are kinda annoying.

ckelly78z 05-02-2019 05:36 AM

My son is in a Diesel Tech program at UNOH (graduates next month) and he has brought home some catalogs, and price lists for the "recommended" SNAP ON boxes, and tools. It would cost more to get him started with Snap on tools then his whole degree cost him/us. He bought a big HF BB slide box for at home, and spent 1/10 of what the similar new snap on box cost. That HF box will still be going strong when he retires, and if not replace it 9 times.

aschen 05-02-2019 06:58 AM

nobody needs a snap on box but they are quite nice and super sturdy. I think 1500 is about right for that if it is in good shape. It was probably several thousand new, but came with a discount, trade in allowance, financing, and was delivered by truck.

What part of this entire hobby is not silly? Nobody needs this place yet we are all spending the most valuable thing in being here--time. I noticed you have over 19K posts...

That looks like a proto/challenger ratchet, one of my favorites. The head of the ratchet is a little big but strong as you know what.
Good deal.
