Just scored an unfished Winston fly rod for CHEAP. Very early serial number. It has Fisher blanks. 3wt 8.5'

Mrs. LWJ has it for me under the tree.

Just picked up this doghouse and crate off CL.
They were listed for $60.
When I got there, the posted said I could have them for free. He just didn't want to say that in the ad to avoid all the sketchy people it would draw.
It was such a good deal, and he was so cool, I gave him the $60 anyway.

When the house wouldn't fit in my wagon, he volunteered to deliver it.
Great deal.

Some fantastic finds here...makes me think I should have learned the art of the hunt better.

Here's a 14 minutes video of the best "tool haul" I've seen on youtube...

Wife is out of town at her folks this weekend and I’m Batchin it. Had a few errands in the list today and on a whim checked recent Craig’s postings. Saw a today only estate sale posted and being that the weather is lousy, thought I’d hit it on opening.

Usually, pickers lined up an hr before opening but, I think that they didn’t post the sale until last evening.

$200 for the system. They had it on and operational when I walked into the garage. Took me about 30 seconds to say I’ll take it. Speakers are same vintage but no name. I’ll open them up to see what drivers are in there. Really just wanted the receiver cause I don’t have any vinyl anymore but, didn’t want to eff around.

About 70 lbs of tube amp sweetness. Can’t wait to hook it up to my Cornwalls and Heresys.

For those that don’t know their tube amps it’s a The Fisher and a Garrard Model 50

Superman 12-10-2022 01:16 PM

It looks to be a Fisher 400. With the wood cabinet. In really good condition. Michael got a SCREAMIN' deal here. Fisher gear is highly respected among tube amp folks.

Cornwalls are in my system, Michael, and I LOVE them.

I was really surprised at how nice the cabs are. Came with the original vinyl cover for the turntable. The speakers are bookshelf size and have some nicks and scratches. They’re wired for hanging.

I’ve been on the hunt for a nice walnut cab Pioneer and vintage tubes weren’t really on the radar but, man could not pass this up. The only cosmetic issue with the receiver is that most of the knobs have lost the gold anodized caps. Should be able to source those. It’s probably going to be paired with my walnut 76 Heresy’s in the man cave. Might have to sell my Corns though. I’ve had them a long time and it’ll hit me but, the wife is really tired of the size of ‘em and they’re a bit large for the den/office. We’ll see.

Superman 12-10-2022 04:52 PM

Yeah, I saw the missing caps. No biggie, in my view.

With speakers, we want high efficiency, good LF response and convenient size. Pick any two. Even my Cornwall IIIs have a LF drop-off. I use shelving filters to improve LF. Do you use a subwoofer with the Heresys?

Never heard convenient size and Cornwalls in the same sentence before, LOL. I do have a Klipsch SW10 sub that I used with the Corns and Heresy’s in a heritage 6.1 theater set up. I haven’t used it in a straight 2Chan setup yet but, I’m going minimum on the new home theater set up and will probably use it with the Heresy’s on their own.

How are the IIIs breaking in? Horns can be a bit tiring in the wrong setting but, get them in a good room and,,,, magical. I actually built a set of risers for my corns and seemed like I got a bit more low end. I’m hard wood floors throughout the house so, that actually helps.

Up in Daytona yesterday, had some time to kill while waiting for the Volvo to get tinted so went on walkabout - including the nearby Goodwill store.

Found a Ryobi cordless saw just like the one I already have and love using for small cut jobs when I don't want to drag out the corded unit(s)....just for a cut or two.

Only $7.99 and includes what looks like an almost new $15 blade!

It's the one on the right in both photos.....

And yes it works just fine! Did not come with battery.

I like those ryobi saws I only have dewalt 18v batterys though so i modified one to fit the dewalt battery. I had a dewalt saw but it didnt work as well the blade is bigger so it didnt have as much power and killed the battery way quicker. I sold it

That's fantastic!

As an aside, do they have moose in Sweden? I think of those as being more a NA kind of thing. When I think of Norway, Sweden, and Finland, I think of reindeer. I wouldn't suggest switching. Moose are funnier and make more sense (who'd look at a silhouette of a reindeer and realize what it was.

I'd love to get a nice old stereo and speakers, but with the missus around, I'd never be able to listen to it. I think I actually get better sound out of a good set of headphones, but it's not the same.

Wow! If those are real (doesn't really matter) then I'm guessing that you're holding $300-1000 in your hand.

Yes, there are a lot of Moose in Sweden, Steve.

You probably realize this, but in case you didn't know, the prancing Moose emblems are an inside joke by Volvo owners as our own version of the prancing Horse, by that Italian car company.....whose name escapes me for the moment.....:D

And in keeping with the "scores" thread theme.....and speaking of the Volvo......I used it to pick up some special order plants yesterday. Mostly Rex Begonias but a few other odds and ends as well.

Hmm...is there such a thing as a prancing Horse station wagon? :p
