^^^^^ Jeez, the universe provides, days after you mentioned that you don't get those deals!

That's the shop model too, with the 100 pound base. Good score.

Well, it definitely cost more than $10, but it is literally a piece of my history, so when I was offered the opportunity to buy it, I had to.
To be able to go back to the days when life was simpler for me.
But I am really drawn to this vintage stand, $200http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1665104194.jpg

Yeah, the vintage bike repair stand is cool, but I don't imagine you'd use it much because it looks kind of cumbersome to set up and use. It'd be fun to display some bikes on but to get real work done, well, there's a reason every bike shop had two or three of those two headed things set up in the back - they made money for the company. Easy to use, tough as a Robert Mitchum fist to the jaw.

My 49 Cycle Truck would look sweet on it, but budget and space don't allow. Robert Mitchum is one of my favorite actors.

Another score from my Mom's neighborhood this morning. I think it's a piano bench. In pretty good shape - hinges work very well.

Might use on one of my covered decks as a place to sit and to store magazines in.

I think its a coffee table that flips up into a TV Tray Table. Our neighbor had one like it.

That sounds about right. Those hinges are cool and could be really handy as part of a storage solution in a small garage/workshop.

Making a scrap run I stopped at a garage sale and asked if they had any scrap to get rid of. The tractor was free so i got it on the way home. It was pretty bad i was going to use it for parts but looking it over it was fixable and battery was only a year old. I got the deck working again spindles were all froze up. The dash board pannel and steering were all loose got that fixed. Needed a gas tank and electrical work. I went to start it and nothing. Tured out the rocker stud ripped out of the head and all the pieces were missing. So I did an engine swap with a spare i had and it works good now. More than i bargained for but not too bad. The diamondback mountain bike my brother got from the dumpster at his work. It was missing a seat and it looks like its just been sitting in a barn for 30 years but i pumped up the tires and everything works great i took it on a ride this morning. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1665792620.JPG

This could go into the music thread too. Yesterday in Mom's neighborhood, people are still putting stuff at the curb as a by product of Ian.

I have brought home some useful items - too many to post actually.

But had to share this with the pelican brotherhood due to the coolness factor.

A stack of 33 1/3's....almost all the Redheaded Stranger. And all of them are in very good condition. I got 'em before they laid in the sun very long. Just good timing I guess.....

Baz, that's a pretty good score on the Willie albums. It reminds me of a story; my brother was telling me that he thought Red Headed Stranger was his favorite Willie album. I said how would you know, he's released about 100 albums. Well, I looked it up, and at that time I wasn't far off - I think he had 75 or 80 albums. (Right now his discography shows 98 studio albums, including collaborations. Yikes. That's a lot of albums.

Wow...I had no idea!

Thanks....I feel good about saving these!

I didn't even look at them - just tossed them in the Volvo until I got home....:p

Local pickup only item in Birmingham. Great timing as I was headed to Bham for my grandson's LaCrosse game. He plays for BSC. This is a like new planer that is a beast weighing 80 lbs producing close to 90 decibels so I had to buy hearing protection headphones. Picked it up for half the retail price and decided to get a stand to permanently mount it on vs schlepping it around and risk throwing out my back.

Very nice. I have a early 80's PK.

herr_oberst 11-12-2022 02:44 PM

Byron, is there a bike that you wish you could have but have never come across? A white whale, as it were? Something that you'd gladly pay far too much for, because, whew! from where I sit it seems like your collection has got to be pretty well complete by now!

That is a modern version, much newer. Most likely a 2010.
