Went to an "inside the house" yard sale this morning in Angleton, TX. Did I find the Holy Grail of Snap On ratchets? I gathered up a pile of tools, including a Victor rosebud, a Proto 1/4" breaker, a set of Proto Allen sockets, and this little, unremarkable, Snap On ratchet.

I asked the guy how much? He says $1 for the lot. I was so astonished, that he immediately says, "ok $2." Incredible! I get back to my truck and go to eBay to see what is going on with this little ratchet. Turns out it's a rare, 9/32" drive and sells for between $100 and $150. There are a couple on there listed for anywhere from $250 to $499. And it doesn't even fit normal drive sockets! Snap On guy is crazy.

Nice score Craig! Thanks for including the price paid, too!

Maybe the 9/32 ratchet is for the military. I’ve heard they are a little different, so people cant use them with the civilian tools outside the military.

Or maybe that’s just bad information.

And I checked the drive size. It really is 9/32"! Where can you even find sockets that fit that? I guess it's just for the collector.

Not entirely true. I’ve seen snap on 3/8 ratchets that are identical except the part number. They work with everything else but if you try and warranty the innards with the snap on man he will look at the part numbers and say no

Sorry, reference was to the 9/32 .
There were a couple of great threads on the Garage forum about them.

I thought of Baz the other day.

There was a wicker bench (my sister loves those and could easily rewrap the one leg that needed it), so I stopped, but it would not fit in Pepper, so I went home (only about 1/2 mile from my house) to grab the Suburban and went back to pick it up only to find the garbage truck there and already picked everything up.
So no score

I saw this scenario on almost every property in town after the two hurricanes flooded our town.

Way too much to go through.

I'm very selective now on what I grab.

I mean......I thought I was very selective before too. Now I guess I am super selective.

Sorry you missed getting that wicker bench, Byron. The table I got last week wouldn't fit all the way in my Volvo so I took it to Mom's until I could come back the next morning with the Silverado. Timing is everything sometimes....

Turn your back your under attack! Its the law of the will. There is times when I had friends or family with me and no room for scores. I leave them there to watch it while I run home and get the truck. Good times

Picked up a pair of club chairs on CL. They were originally built for a hotel local to me. Well made and comfortable. $125 ea.

Byron, Baz, I thought of both of you today. This is a genuine Lloyds Looms wicker chair.

Free for the asking, pretty decent shape, needs skuffed and repainted, but the wicker is in remarkable condition. But both of you live so far away, you could get a new one for the cost of shipping, probably.

About 12 years ago I picked up an old camera lens at a flea market.
I asked if he would take $8 for it, but he stood firm at $10. I grumbled, and payed the man. I wasn't familiar with the maker, but I could tell it was old and well made.

About 6 weeks later I sold that Hugo Meyer Kino Plasmat 3" F:1.5 lens for $14,000 to a collector in Hong Kong.

There are 4 on ebay now priced between $36K and $50K.

I've had plenty of other scores, but that's one of my best as far as ROI.

I've never been a fan of wicker myself, but could see the value of flipping something like this because there ARE those who love the stuff.

That is AWESOME! Stuff like that too is easy to ship so selling on eBay makes a lot of sense. Good eye and good job!

This afternoon I scooped up a DVD/VCR machine off CL - $50. It's never been used still in it's box and came with remote, RCA lines, and user guide.

I tested it when I got home and it works just fine.

I already have one (Slyvania) but when/if it breaks, I now have a working backup. I have some video cassettes of cool stuff - some not available in any other format, thus having the VCR component is necessary.

Part II:

On my way to pick up the machine, I saw a wheelbarrow curbside. Told myself I will stop on the way back - IF it is still there. All the while the little voice in my head saying (You niwit....if you wait it will be gone - turn around now!) - which I ignored, electing to leave it to fate.

Well it was still there and aside from needing a new wheel is in decent shape!

Nice! I need to get a VHS player at the least. Family movies from the 80's and 90's would be cool to see again.

Picking up a “free” hot tub off of FB Market place. Phase-1 complete by trailer modifications so I can transport it. The wifey has talked about getting one and we were both shell shocked at the prices we saw at the Home Show. These things are the price of a used car….

Has a leak, so I know there will be some digging( literally),

Also picked up a free compressor from the same household, win win.

Pics to follow
