From an ad on Nextdoor......this very cool palm lamp. Then he also had these tiered plant stands in his garage, which hadn't been listed yet. $50 for the stands and lamp!

Also had this very cool palm theme wine rack - but I passed...

But then you'd lose that wonderful patina, Scott!

Hey I had a girlfriend once who loved rusty things. There was this huge place in Mt Dora with all kinds of antiques and odds and ends and she loved going there looking for artistic stuff: https://renningers.net/

I really liked her a LOT and wish things had turned out better. She also owned a beautiful 993 and a long hood track car. She had the most beautiful green eyes too....

Thank you! Just gotta keep your eyes open. And be keen on the pursuit!

The guy who was selling the lamp took almost a week to get back to me. I thought it was already sold and that's why there was no response. I mean - why wouldn't anyone try to grab such a cool lamp? Ultimately it worked out somehow.

Today I took my Mom to the dermatologist to have a wound checked from some skin cancer she had removed. In her neighborhood on the way to her house I noticed some people cleaning things out. Yesterday I think they had a garage sale. This morning I saw some framed art work curbside along with some other smaller items. I kept going to Mom's and then an hour later on the way back it was still there......along with two 5 tiered shelf units....the $65 apiece ones they sell at HD.

(sound of Volvo brakes...)

I was going to stop anyway and grab the art work but now there were these two shelf units....major score!

I chatted with the couple cleaning stuff out (they had a small dumpster on the drive filled with stuff too) and this was their parent's house. It got flooded and they are selling it now after moving their parents into an apartment in Port Orange. We actually had a pretty decent conversation while I was breaking down the shelves and putting them in the Volvo. Nice folks helping their Mom and Pop out. And happy to see anything go to a good home.

I also gabbed a US flag, 8 cup measuring cup, and a pair of headphones.

Here's what the shelves look like:

Artwork and other stuff:

Finally found a factory Ford bed extender for my F150. $80!

Brought it home and it didn’t fit. The guy I bought it off had a F150, but it was a Harley Davidson version and it’s narrower. 😂

So, it goes back on Facebook marketplace soon.

Note to self. Measure truck and next extender before buying.

Does anyone still wear ties?

Wasn't sure whether to put this here or the death thread. One of my wife's former neighbors passed away. My stepdaughter grew up in their house, their daughter grew up in my wife's house, there were three girls that grew up together inseparable.

But on to the subject of the thread. The family is asking for the funeral guests to wear something green. I don't own a green dress shirt, nor any tie that would go with a green shirt. The wife wanted to go to a resale shop yesterday to look for fabric, so while she was looking, I wandered over to the men's section. I didn't find any green Dragon Azz jeans, but I did find a suitable J.C. Penney green shirt that looked practically new, and a fairly large selection of Jerry Garcia ties. I like some of his designs, I own a couple other of his ties, but these days they're only worn for weddings and funerals. So here's what I ended up with. Should work OK with a dark suit. Six bucks each. If we would have gone on a Tuesday, I would have got another 30% off.

That looks like it could easily be widened.

I thought about it, but I found one that fits the next day for $50. Now I’m trying to unload the first one.

Not really a curb find, but I went to a friend's house today, as I needed to move a car to the trailer he is storing for me.
After we finished that, we were kicking back BSing and he asked me if I knew anyone who needed a dishwasher, it seems his wife kept saying that it didn't work right ( and after he removed and installed a new one, found out that she only liked to used the liquid, and it clogged the hose, and she didn't want to use the pods, so $2K later he hopes that she is happy. Well, my Samsung died a while and I never got around to replacing it. So we loaded up the GE Profile And I will install it this week

I learned the same kiind of thing with lumber racks. I had one from my F350 up for sale. A guy came to my house with a duelly to buy it. Turned out the bed with the duel rear wheels was about three inches more narrow & the rack wouldn't fit.

I did that very thing when my brother-in-law asked me if I wanted his old faded toolbox because he had gotten all new stuff from a barter deal he worked out with Sonic Tools
I said sure I'd take it. I got it home and cleaned it up, masked off things and re-sprayed it red. Next, I took an old rubber work out mat that was left at our house when we bought it, measured the drawers and lined them with the "custom cut" rubber mat. Yeah, I sent him pictures of it when I was finished, he said it looked better than when he first got it.
