Coming soon: Ducati 1199 Panigale R Superleggera

This will be a lightened version of the Panigale R. Weight is rumored to be 377 lbs. Horsepower is 220. Lightening is achieved with extensive carbon fiber and titanium.

I can't even begin to wrap my mind around this. Those are amazing numbers. I'm guessing price will be around $60K.

BTW, current Panigale R has electronic suspension.

Current R model:

I could never ride up to the potential of that bike, but I'd sure like to try!

Probably something less than .01% of the worlds population could ride that thing to it's potential. Guys like Richard are pretty rare.

I don't really trust the manufacturer numbers but I'd bet it will be a fun ride.

Looks like a buddy of mine is gonna have to upgrade. He's the kind of guy who always has to have the highest specification bike Ducati's got (well, other than the 'Sedici--I think his wife put a block on that. Bostrom ---> 999R --> 1098 --> Panigale --> ?

"Similar to the Ducati Desmosedici RR launch, only pre-selected Ducatisti will be given the opportunity to own one of the Panigale R Superleggera. The chosen few will receive a special access code from their local dealers, which will then allow them to order the Superleggera from Ducati."

I have seen you ride. You are being very humble. I don't think it would take long for you to get dialed in and on the stop.

You might be able to use more than 50%, (and a good percentage more than the average Joe), but yeah, only Moto GP level riders could really wring that thing out. I don't think some of the guys here truly understand the performance envelope of that thing.

Same could be said for modern Porsche GT2s, Corvette ZR-1s, etc...

It is much easier to reach the limit of a car (well, anything less than a Formula 1 car) than a bike. No low or high siding a car.

Its pretty easy to reach the limits of a car. Go to big parking lot, turn off traction control, hit gas, turn hard. You'll eat tires, but you won't end up with a shredded ass/bike. The penalty for reaching the limits of a bike are a bit higher.

It would be fun to point that thing down a straight road and rip through the gears.

But you might flip over backwards. Bikes can kill you in many ways.

I know I couldn't come close to imagining the performance envelope of that bike. It would be so interesting just to take it for a sane ride.

Amazing. Panigale R with a 24 month unlimited mile warranty. Wet 417lbs., 195 hp @ 10,750. But its much more than about those numbers. All that R&D, technology in a compact road going jewel of a machine. Up the ante again.
Ducati Superbike 1199 Panigale R - Ducati

Check out the cool design chassis adjustments. Traction control and ABS, etc., etc.
