Storing a Carrera 4 for winter? That's criminal!;)

1990C4S 12-06-2013 05:17 AM

I also stored it for the summer.

It will be sold and used to fund my 996. Eventually.

BReif61 12-06-2013 05:27 AM

I'm currently storing my at the Progressive claim center :/

Agree but......I really hate cracked windshields and road rash on the C4S!
Besides I've got a GMC Sierra to deal with that shyte!

jj 911SC...just curious, are you looking to buy a 997 C4S in the future?

911SauCy 12-06-2013 08:08 AM

Gummie Bears removed, Sta-Bil in tank, targa top on, windows cracked, battery out and in house...

...distance makes the heart grow fonder. Right?

Will replace external t-stat and install Carerra cooler before beginning of next season.

The last couple of years I've just released the targa top latches, causing an air seal breach.

There is a very breathable cotton car cover on while it's in the unheated garage.

I have a tub of dollar store moisture absorption crystals in there now, but that will soon be replaced with a large RV bucket of moisture absorption crystals.

Its a good possibility but it would be that specific one as the engine and peripherals was replace while the car was in extended warranty (bad treatment from the PO that was leasing it).

Of course that de-value the car as its no longer a number matched car :D:):D

Good to know! The reason for the query.....I may be looking for a 997 Turbo down the road so may be thinking of letting go of my C4S....we shall see!?!

Cheers!

Alex

When I leave my 79SC Targa in the garage I close the doors only to the safety catch position. I mostly leave the Targa top off, or if I leave it on, I release the Targa top latches to a lose position. That, I figure, relaxes the rubber seals for a better seal when I am driving.

I drove my 85.5 944 on Thursday due to the dry, clean roads, but then a Winter storm came through, and everything is salted. I may drive a couple more times before Christmas if rain washes the roads, but then it's time to leave it in the garage for a few months, and get some small projects done on it.

It's a present every year in the spring ;)

I just put my bmw 635 in my neighbors garage; he's gone till may. Just in time too, because we just had 6 inches of snow. Oh well, it warm, under cover, and see you in may.

I just parked the 911 for the winter. We are going to get a big ice storm tonight and tomorrow so I know the salt truck will be out in force. I drove her to the wife's Christmas party and had a real fun drive back home.

VFR750 12-08-2013 03:29 AM

Parked every winter, from first salting, to just after first cleansing rain in early March. A good time for long projects, like this year.

Last "drive" was on a flatbed to my garage, with a broken transmission. Memorable.

Will be ready for the early Spring rains.

I drove mine for the last time on Thanksgiving. Called the insurance guy today to switch to storage only. Full tank, battery tender and 40 degree garage.

Best,
Rutager
