This whole Paul Walker incident...

This whole Paul Walker incident is interesting from a sociological perspective.

Having established a reputation acting as a speed crazed, street racing, forty year old, post adolescent, in a series of mindless films directed at adolescent, lame brained delinquents racing on the streets in their rice rods, Walker ends up dead as a passenger in a car with another post adolescent speed freak doing the same without camera crew. But...it was for charity.

Oh the irony.

Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. Or something like that.

Seems as though the guy donated more to charity & goodwill in his time than I will ever be able to, and did so while being a nice guy to those who knew him.

So I'm not going to say anything bad about the dude.

And there are worse ways to die young than in a CGT at a charity event, for christ sakes.

I didn't know who he was or anything about him before the crash but I do feel very sad for his family. He sounds like he was a nice guy and very caring and charitable, not your typical Hollywood egomaniac.

Perhaps he was a thrill seeker, nothing wrong with that. Too some extent we are all thrill seekers, he was just at the wrong place wrong time.

I hope his legacy is better than some here make it out to be.

F&F makes a lot of money and now it will make it on PW's dead shirttails, that to me is the most disturbing part of this event.

From what I've read, he was a good man.

I haven't seen any of the what 6 movies?
A good guy is a good guy regardless of their occupation. Although I am always leery of rich folk giving to charity, just a tax right off. But there was a story this morning on the news where he bought the diamond ring that a couple came in to get when it was to expensive. Didn't tell them. Class act.

Thank God no bystanders were injured or killed.

Is the Carrera GT cursed??

Since he was just a passenger he is the victim, even if he was urging the driver to go faster. It is sad two nice guys and a nice car were destroyed.

Had no idea who he was before this so my first reaction was "another spoiled overpaid Hollywood actor who thought he was immortal". Glad to hear he was actually a good guy. Any of us can look back and admit to stupid decisions. Sorry for his family, for sure.

The world would be a better place if those movies had never been made.....

BUT I'm not about to talk trash on a guy for hitting a tree in a p-car.

I think the original movie was very well done, nice video and audio editing, aside from huge holes in the plot evident when watched multiple times, good movie.

2nd one, gah, can't watch it a 2nd time without fast forward/skip. Haven't seen any others.

From everything I hear, the CGT is a very slippery car on the edge. This isn't the first joy ride in one to end wrecked.

There is a difference between make-believe and real life, but too many folks don't know what that difference is or don't live long enough to figure it out.

Making movies about street racing is supposed to be entertainment but it was adopted as a lifestyle by many, with predictable consequences.
I can't help but wonder how many other unknown boy racers have been killed indirectly as a result of those F&F movies.

I'm not saying the movies were to blame at all, the people who made the decision to act out fiction are to blame for the consequences.
But the movies did increase Darwin's work load.

BTW this isn't a new thing ironic-wise, it reminds me of Jan and Dean's song "dead man's curve.
They came out with the song in '64 and two years later Jan Berry was paralyzed and suffered severe brain damage in a crash on Whittier blvd in his vette, just a little ways from dead man's curve due to excessive speed.

I can't count all the hot rod movies I saw growing up that involved street racing, and I loved em all.
American Graffiti was the only one I can recall that didn't over-glorify it or at least displayed it honestly as far as what could happen.
Seeing them both walk away from the crash was a little over the top but at least they had the balls to show them crash.

We're all hypocrites to a certain extent when it comes to driving fast on the street. More so when we're young, less as we get older.
We say it's a tragedy, we get mad when someone races around the streets in our neighborhood, but we have a thead thats a go-zillion pages long about the king of mullholland.
We've all gone a little to fast at one time or another. Most of us don't have a CGT to do it is so we get away with it.
Maybe it's just a part of life here in so Cal and we should just accept it and say "oh well, it was bound to happen eventually".

What a moronic, simplistic, POS article. "It Flies On The Road" - seriously? I would mock my 9 year old for coming up with such a stupid cliche heading. Does it also "corner like its on rails"? I'm fully convinced that true reporting of facts is dead, replaced by tabloid "journalism" created by idiots. But we all clicked on it, which is all they seem to care about.
