As a result of these events, I trust maybe 5 or 6 people in this world and I hate that almost as much as I hate her lawyer.

Damn, pavulon! That sounds awful. I always find your posts (and medical contributions) very rational, well thought out and generous. Seem to be a very grounded person. Hard to imagine seeing you find yourself in this position. My sincere sympathy.

Sorry to hear about this Scott. I went through a divorce 30 years ago but no kids.
It is painful . We are here for you.
Guy

Never think that you are alone though. PM me if you need to...

Being kind and respectful is something that should be automatic but, trust is something that must be earned.

Keep your friends close, and your enemies in PARF!

Thank you so much fellas. I'm doing ok.

I'm 48 and my primary concerns are my kids who seem to be doing okay and finances which could be better. I had a great nest egg built up and a really nice retirement going. The nest egg is gone and a fair chunk of retirement left too. Plowing around on pelican keeps me from thinking about it too much. Good folks here!!

Oh man, I feel for you…dunno you except for her on Pelican but I feel like this is a brotherhood… Like others, I would like to do what I can…likely little if you PM me.. I have been in a similar situation for what it's worth…. Pelican is a brotherhood….and you know you can count on it. I am Porche-less but I'm still here because of the brotherhood...

Trust is an interesting word.

When I meet people, I tend to give them the benefit of the doubt. I am hopeful, I suppose they are a person whose values are similar to mine.

However, I trust most people to look after their own interests. A SIL, for example has no concern for anyone's time (She was late for her father's funeral. As she had the first reading, she kept a couple of hundred folks waiting.)

I think where most of us feel betrayed is when we suddenly find someone we trusted to do one thing has done something else to our detriment. :(

Maybe that's why I'm sometimes pleasantly surprised when a person does something nice instead of what I trusted they would do.

Best
Les
