Question of the day

Do you trust people less than you did before?

If so... why? SmileWavy

stomachmonkey 12-02-2013 12:24 PM

I give people the benefit of the doubt but I don't trust them.

Jim Richards 12-02-2013 12:27 PM

no

Bill Douglas 12-02-2013 12:35 PM

Definitely less.

With cheaper faster communications (VoIP, high speed internet) traditional scammer type places such as Asia and Africa can make thousand of phone calls to try to trick you out of your money, and troll the internet looking for clues, leads and possible ID thefts.

Porsche-O-Phile 12-02-2013 12:37 PM

I never trusted them to begin with.

If you don't see the way a given person is trying to screw you over, take advantage of you, rip you off or otherwise mistreat you it just means they haven't gotten around to it yet or you're just not very observant.

onewhippedpuppy 12-02-2013 12:37 PM

Before what? Did I miss something?

LakeCleElum 12-02-2013 12:38 PM

Sleep with one EYE open....

I've become more cautious in the last ten years, but I'm not a cynical as P-O-P.

gshase 12-02-2013 01:05 PM

The only person I trust is Obama.

I sleep with a rottweiler under my pillow and I'm not afraid to use it.

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer…….

I think lying to get your butt out of a jam has become the norm. Politicians, athletes, celebrities all pretty much take it all the way to the end until all evidence points to them being in the wrong. Then they go to rehab and put the blame on drugs, alcohol, sex addiction, etc.

The younger generation sees this and follows their lead. I think a person's "word" will be extinct soon. Nobody wants to take responsibility for their actions.

I was a very trusting person prior to about 5 years ago. Then I was involved in a lawsuit after a 930 owner and broker tried to screw me royally.

Today, my wife divorced me after 15 years. She, I and our 4 young kids all live in an entertainment-starved blue-collar town of fewer than 5K people. I lost more money on this than I thought I'd ever see in my now shortened life. As a result of these events, I trust maybe 5 or 6 people in this world and I hate that almost as much as I hate her lawyer.

Tobra 12-02-2013 08:23 PM

No

Trust is something that is earned. I only trust people I know I can trust.

I used to be a trusting person thinking the best outcome was an outcome that was the best for everyone concerned. That's the mind set I went into the work place with. But there I learned people would lie, backstab, manipulate, and do anything they could to get a step up. I have to confess I never subscribed to that and believed in getting ahead by hard work and accomplishment. I was mildly successful even using that philosophy, but people said I marched to a "different drummer." I learned at work not to trust anybody. As far as the general culture is concerned, I agree with Craigster.
