Advice on final stages of a spoon build needed!

OK, so I set off with a specific idea in mind and the goal of creating that spoon for under $1k......I missed, but I'm pretty freaking happy with what I've got

My real question is this: I'm kinda iffy about the muzzle being behind the free float rail. The linear compensator 'should' make everything ok, but as it sits, the barrel assembly ends about an inch behind the rail/tube.

I'm toying with just cutting the existing piece down, likely along the already cut out slots, making something of a forked front end and exposing the compensator just a hair past the rail/tube. Is this a really bad idea? should I just buy another freaking free float in a shorter size? I don't have a bandsaw so I'd likely be doing this with an angle grinder and cutoff disc...

As to the spoon:
PSA Receivers
standard 6 pos buffer assembly
SMI ceraplated BCG (I think it's 8360 for the carrier and 9310 for the bolt, something like that)
Guntec 10" FF
Midwest Ind gas block with 3 set screws
Noveske 7.5" 'gi contour' (no crap, you could put a standard A2 FSB on it!)
Magpul Gen2 MBUS
Eotech xps2
