OK, we got one today. Now I have to get it set up and figure it out so I can teach her.

We went low RAM and HD (still thinking about that one). She's been using a very low powered netbook for the past 6 months, so this should be a huge upgrade. She should still have more than enough room. We are going to try using Pages and Numbers instead of going with Office.

I've got until Jan 7 to take this back and trade up if I decide we need to.

It should be a fun and interesting journey.
