we all had girl friends in 1st and 2nd grade
almost required [by the girls] as always it was the girls pick

but not in coral gables where we moved next

or in detroit where schools were integrated

I thought I was going to prison in 2nd grade. A bunch of my buddies and me thought it would be real funny to take a pen and draw a small line on the tips of our left thumbs and then grab the left thumb with our right hands and squeeze it till it turned purplish. Well you put it down in front of your zipper and it gave the appearance of you slipping your male appendage out for display purposes. Needless to say, the teachers and the prinicpal did not find this to be a trick, but that me and my friends were actually exposing ourselves. I would gladly pay five bucks for the video of us in the principals office begging the secretary to borrow her pen so that we could demonstrate our little trick to the principle. Once we got it sorted out that it was a trick, we received ass whippings with the heavy wooden paddles like they used in the old days. I still remember seeing stars on each whack!!! I would do it again in a heartbeat, it was fun as hell... people need to lighten up!

It's all about institutionalization now, not education. This is just one more reason my kids will never set foot in a public school like that. No way.

I'm sure if he'd been kissing another boy the liberal "educators" would be encouraging and applauding the kid's "coming out" at such an early age.

From the article in the paper this morning I saw that the boy had been kissing that girl and he had been told over and over to stop. He was even warned that there would be punishment if he did not stop kissing her. It sounds like that boy did not understand what no and stop mean. I hate to speculate but I be he is nerve told no at home.

Imagine how the little girl felt. Same boy she does not like keeps kissing her and she has all of her classmates tell the teacher they saw it happen many times. The boy has been told by the teacher and all the adults to STOP kissing her. He keeps kissing her. Suspension may well have been warranted. That boy needs to learn there really are consequences for your own actions and you can't continue to defy the teacher and the principal.

There's no reason to taint a 6-year-old kid's record permanently with a disciplinary suspension. Absolutely stupid. This could and should've been handled so many other ways.

That's not the entire story. The boy has been suspended for this before. His parents did nothing to stop it. He has repeatedly done this to this girl, by some accounts 30-40 times. At some point there has to be punishment. When we where in school we would have gotten spanked, the school can't do that now so what are they supposed to do? What would you do if it was your daughter? That's the problem with our entire society, no one is accountable for their actions. He'd been told to stop many many times, it took over 10 times of this being reported to the school for them to suspend him the first time but the kid kept doing it.

It sounds like this kid needs some parents that are real parents and not trying to be his best friend.

If the boy just will not stop when he has been warned dozens of times, he figures there are no consequences for his actions. His parents will not deal with it and the school had to. If he has been suspended twice for the same kissing of the same girl he needs counseling. He will likely grow up into a full blown sociopath.

Yes I agree he needs to be disciplined, but sexual harassment??? I didn't watch the posted video but the news video I watched said now the kid was asking his parents what sex is. Now he has sexual harassment on his school records at age 6.

The reality of most teacher's lives is that the parents are not helpful. The school board is forced to act when the parents can't or won't.

Any reasonable parent would have resolved this long ago.

And no doubt the school board has a policy that defines the child's behavior as sexual harassment, with zero wiggle room.

Your right there has to be punishment but at some point you have to protect the little girl. The first suspension didn't work he got in trouble for the same thing multiple times after the first suspension. Enough is enough. As the father of 2 little girls(9&10) I would be so pissed that it got this far I'd need the police to be there.

And for the boy the suspension is a win. He gets to stay at home and watch TV and play with his toys. He will not see it as punishment.

para. 1 - good idea; should have been done earlier

para. 2 - wrong - it is not permanent, and is for internal use by that school district only

I agree with GH, but news reports indicate he is a very 'difficult' child - possibly the parent are doing everything they can with a child who has some lower level mental condition
