Hollywood screwz it up again...Little Tommy Cruise as

Jack Reacher....
Jack Reacher (2012) - IMDb

In the Lee Child novels, Reacher is 6'5" and 240ish.....

Another Hollyweird sell out.

What do you think the percentages are that people are going to see it because Tom Cruise is in it vs. being familiar with the Lee Child novels?

Agree...

That twerp as Reacher?

I don't see this getting any traction.... Reacher as a series or brand...

Yeah, basically if he wants a role, he gets it. He could have bumped Denzel from "Devil in a Blue Dress" if he wanted...

And while I've never worked in film, there seems to be a bias against taller actors for the most part; I suspect it's easier to work with people of similar stature from a logistics perspective.

Just saw the previews last night before the Flight, (excellent movie btw). It looks like it will be good.
I thought all actors were 6'3"?

I was surprised at him being cast as Reacher. But the trailer also suggests that he owns a Chevelle SS, instead of being a drifter. I think I will approach it with an open mind.

We will always have the books, anyway, and they will always be better than the movies.

Not the first time for Tom... When he did Valkyrie the relatives of Stauffenberg complained that Tom was too short for the role. Stauffenberg was about 6 foot 2.

Have not watched a Tommy Boy movie in about 20 years and do not plan on changing things anytime soon...

Tom Cruise can stand on his walking around money and he'll be the right height.

He is most likely the producer, which means he is putting up his own money to make this film. That is why he gets to choose what movies he makes.

I don't think TC has the star power he once did. If you look at his more recent movies the ticket sales didn't really hit expectations. Of course, I'm like most of you: I haven't seen one of his movies in years. He is not masculine enough to play most of the roles he tries.

I don't know who Lee child is or what Reacher is about, but I might pay more attention to the trailer since I know it's got some money behind it.
