Fabulous thread! Thanks to all who posted - I just finished reading all comments and I learned a great deal.
I see now that we all know they were at Beale AFB. My first day there I saw my first one through the class room window as it was in taxi...I jumped up 'n asked, "What the hell is that?!!!" The instructor said, "That's a B1RD." Aka, Bird. Funny guy, he.
