Pelican rouxroux (Craig N. Hardy) R.I.P.

What follows is rouxroux's obituary. He friended me on Facebook to help me when I was making a cross country trip with my son in an early 911. Since that time we traded a few FB posts etc, but I will never forget how he helped me, a total stranger, simply out of the goodness of his heart. I asked and got permission from his wife to make this post, and I will link it back to his FB page. If this has been posted elsewhere then my apologies.

Me, I knew he was from Louisiana; loved Porsches and Corvairs, and Cavalier King Charles spaniels. He helped total strangers, and those that knew him well thought he was a really good guy. RIP rouxroux.

Shreveport Times obituary:
"BOSSIER CITY, LA - Memorial services for Craig N. Hardy, will be 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel, Bossier City, LA. Visitation will be prior to the service on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Craig was born November 4,1956 in Toledo, OH to Will and Frances Norris Hardy and died December 13, 2013 in Shreveport, LA.

His parents, Grandmother Mae Norris and Aunt Ann Williamson preceded him in death.

Craig is survived by his wife of 18 years Diane Hardy of Bossier City, LA; uncle Stephen Norris of Dubach, LA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Nancy and David Cornelius of St. Louis, MO, Margaret and Bill Best of Lafayette, LA, and Mary Adams of Baton Rouge, LA. He is also survived by a nephew Will Best and nieces Rachel Best and Holly, and a grand-nephew Drew Grider.

Following his retirement from the Caddo Parish Schools as a band director he became a music teacher in the Bossier Parish Schools where he taught gifted and talented students. He was very highly thought of by his many band students. Craig was an excellent music teacher and was very influential in the lives of his students. He had great relationships with his students and helped them to excel not only in music but also in their lives. He was thought very highly of by the students, was loved and will be missed.

Craig was a member of the Masons, and the Porsche Club of America. Among car aficionados Craig was well-known for his expertise as a driver and a knowledgeable mechanic whose opinions and help were often sought out. He was envied for his many long-distance road trips on such famous roads as Route 66 and having driven the famous 13-mile Nurburg Ring racing road in Germany.

He was a former member of the Bill Causey Band and played in various other bands throughout his musical career. He could often be found on New Year's Eve playing at either private functions in or around Shreveport or the large Casino room. He was a walking encyclopedia of music trivia and could name the bass player, lyricist, year recorded and singer of any random song that happened to playing.

Craig was also very active in showing his King Charles Cavalier dogs in regional and national American Kennel Club dog shows where they captured ribbons in every category.

The family request memorial contributions be made to the Baptist Childrens Home P.O. Box 4196 Monroe, LA 71211; National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana 8200 Hampson St. STE 425 New Orleans, LA 70118 or the American Diabetes Association 2644 S. Sherwood Forest Blvd. Baton Rouge, LA 70816.

Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble. He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down; he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not....
Farewell
