on a price adjusted basis?

I don't see how you can compare it to a GTB, NART, 330TC, or others (??)

even a Dino (the Fiat of Ferraris)

imcarthur 12-28-2013 12:51 PM

Based on no basis, just my gut. If someone tossed me a couple of hundred grand & said: "Go buy yourself a Ferrari", I would come home with a restored Boxer.

I guess I'd have to agree if you are limited to cheap ones :D

Rich man problems in this thread.

You are so mean!

You just don't understand!

I had to service the Lear (stupid FAA)...

Now I can't afford a tune up on the Ferrari! (until my next trust fund deposit)...

I will need to console myself by stepping out the back-door and taking a walk on the beach.

Guess I will have to take the Jag out for sushi tonight (shudder)...

Thanks for posting photos of your Boxer. One of my all-time favorite cars. I've never seen one in the flesh, but I see that you're probably at least part time in Charlotte, so maybe we can cross paths some day.

Just showing some "Boxer ignorance" here... what is the purpose of that extra tail light outboard of the exhaust?

yes, would love to meet this spring! I have had a few pelicans over to see and ride in the cars. I love talking about porsches and Ferraris! I am in the lake norman area.

Hard to believe it's been more than 10 years.

So upset, you were, that you tossed your martini across the lawn of the guest house.

:)

the boxers are leaving the ranks of cheap and are fast moving to $200k for the 512's and the 365 is well beyond $300k for clean cars.

tervren has ridden in mine...I think he enjoyed the car!

They left the range of cheap 5+ years ago, hit a massive peak, bit of a slide of late, but a slide down to 2x+ the selling prices I was seeing several years ago. $60-70K vs $150-300K. As the car's age, condition is making a bigger price gap between examples. Inflation is probably driving it up quite a bit.

I think similar to Embraer's 355, one of the big draws of a BB, is the fantastic sound they can make. This is something that sets most Ferrari's in a world of their own vs other cars.

This is some pics of Pete's I have lying around.

This is a diff BB, you can see how not everything on a BB is quite "perfect". To me, it looks sculpted, not stamped, one of the reasons I like the car.

I got to drive a buddy's BB a while back and, as much of a thrill as it was, it was not easy to drive. The clutch almost wore me out. But what a gorgeous car and sound.

Certainly a MAN'S Ferrari... "hard to drive" is attractive to me. It gives me more satisfaction than a new Ferrari (or any new car for that matter). It's more rewarding. :)

$2million estimate from the auction house for a car that needs everything. Unbelievable.

sammyg2 12-31-2016 12:28 PM

Wow.

sugarwood 12-31-2016 01:03 PM

Looks like 355's are $80k cars now.
So much for the depreciation argument!

Yeah, that one didn't pan out like he predicted. I'd forgotten about this thread completely, what a waste of time. I did not remember getting into it w him, I just don't retain these internet dust-ups. They're meaningless to me.

I'm still saddened by what happened to him. :(

The Modial is a pig, again IMO. They were usually driven by eurotrash middle-aged dudes in Beverly Hills with nose hair combed over to the side.
