If you love your iphone, you should check out a Galaxy. Just saying...Apple's phone technology is about a year behind...

Reading this thread, I am either intrigued in jailbreaking my ATv2 or selling it at a crazy price.

I've had Apple TV for a year now -- it works well for Airplaying Pandora and iTunes Radio, and watching movies via Apple TV is pure simplicity. The latest update brought in more channels including Crackle (if you like second rate movies with poor acting, this station is for you!), and other stuff. IIRC, they had support for YouTube and Netfllix from the beginning.
With Apple TV connected to my Samsung LCD TV, I don't think I need a smart TV until the next gen of smart TV comes out -- everything that a Smart TV offers, I have with my $100 Apple TV unit and my Samsung HDTV. -Z

My wife's MacBook Air is so impressive, that I'm considering getting a 27" iMac at some point. I've been a IBM compatible/PC guy since 1988 starting with DOS 3.2, eventually Windows 286 (2.1, I think), NT 4.0, etc... up through the current machine which is a touchscreen HP with Win 7. I'm also a network engineer (mostly Cisco gear). Quote:

I got one on Sun. We are getting ready to cancel DirecTV. I don't have any complaints with DTV other than cost, so we are going to ditch it. We've had Western Digital TV Live Plus boxes for a while. They are essentially the same thing as the TV Live except not tethered to Apple. They aren't bad, but they aren't really supported by WD any more. Since we are ditching the Satellite, I wanted something a bit more up to date. The Apple TV is an improvement over the WD TV Live.
I like it.

I've had one for a year and a half and in the bedroom I added a Roku HD a couple months ago.
These are super basic devices with an HDMI cable and plug for power supply. Apple has the better interface and Roku is pretty primitive by comparison but has more channel choices by a mile. Trouble is, many of the Roku channels are super low quality, with many offering the same cheesy movies. I do like the Apple box's ability to stream my playlist and display my computer screen with one click. Neither is perfect. And by the way, there is apparently a new version of Apple TV nearing announcement.
