So the witness says they were only going 40 MPH and they managed to slide 200 feet and hit a tree with such force it killed the driver. Sure I believe him. It was a gravity inversion. Yea that's the ticket. Sure.

If I lived right on that road and kids were drag racing I would start watering my yard. The sprinkler might by accident get the road wet.

So what ever happened to the home owner? Was he jailed?

I have a lot of stop signs every 300 feet or so can't really get into 2nd anyhow so I just wind her up!

OK, maybe your neighbors are just uptight. You might want to shift gears, though. I'd hate to think of your neighbors all standing around laughing and drinking beer while your house burns down sometime. :)

Considering your oil isn't going to be warmed up when first leaving the house, maybe winding it up in first gear isn't the best thing to do.

There is no easy answer, if you blip it up to 30 mph in 2nd gear, put it in neutral and coast allowing yourself to roll silently most of the block, the lack of sound, and being out of gear will make for a dangerous situation in my opinion.

My choice has often been to cruise at 30 mph in a 25 mph zone.

SUV's eventually end up ridding my arse anyway, doing the speed limit is almost unsafe with the majority of vehicles being light trucks speeding +5 to +10 over the posted speed.

Please tell us in what gear and at what rpm you cruise at 25 mph (assuming level grade).

Up and down hills is another matter.

An average 911 will do 25mph at around 2,500-2,800 rpm in second gear, which is not a bad thing for a cold engine. Fairly quiet, too, if you have a light throttle foot. In first gear, you'd be howling along at 4,200-4,300, or more on an early car, which is not good for a cold engine and will likely sound a little loud to some people.

Cool, I see where you are coming from.

I don't like to mope around at less than 3,000 rpm very long, very often.

Maybe the 2.7 is different than the torqueier SC's but for what ever reason I just don't like the feel at 25 mph at all.

Might be a host of small issues combined, will attend to in the spring.

I don't like 25mph either but in this case, I was just cruising along with a friend. I can easily run smoothly at 25mph at probably 2K rpm in 2nd. However, up until recently, this was not possible as my CIS was running horribly. It's absolutely amazing how well it runs with just a tiny bit of adjustment to my warm pressure - it's like a new car. For the past 2 years the car run lousy at any point below 3k and was hard to run smooth in city traffic. That has all changed now.

I'd love to see what a "torquier" SC is like - I have yet to have one keep up with me on our mountain PCA road trips.

You are just enjoying a weight and gearing advantage. My '74 with a 200+ hp 3.0 will eat either of the 2.7 engined cars I owned for lunch...on any road. Had a different 2.7 in each car and swapped the 3.0 into each. Huge difference. It would also best my 3.2 except at very high speeds (gearing again).
