I'll be honest - I'd rather sell it for a little less to a Pelican than try and get top dollar somewhere else. Pelican has been great at helping me keep my 3.2 on the road, and I'd like to pay it forward.
That's a great sentiment and I used to share it. But I've been burned by members of the Porsche brotherhood too many times. I was selling a bumper at a swap meet and a fellow 356 Registry member and friend was interested. I told him I wouldn't ask him for top dollar, because he said he needed it for his project and, "We are fellow 356 Registry members and friends." Made him a smokin' deal. He sold it to someone else for top dollar at the same swap meet within sight of my table. I watched him do it. That's just one example. It's happened before and since (I'm a slow learner).
There are a lot of great people here and I trust a lot of them, but I'd need to know someone as an individual before I'd cut him any slack. Mere Porsche ownership does not make one a saint - or even a brother - when there are $$ at stake.
