Somewhere I heard good things about Vesper. Basically, a disappointment, but there was some decent dystopian future sci-fi in it.

The Banshees of Inisherin is sweet, sad, beautiful, funny, and very painful. It's the best acting I've seen from Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson (who were great in In Bruges together), not that I've seen everything they've done. It's set on Inisherin Island, off the coast, but part of Ireland in 1923. As a period piece, it's stellar. The unreasonableness of it is overwhelming. Hard to watch, much like The Power of the Dog. If you want to see it, don't watch the trailer. If you don't want to see it, watch the trailer and you'll get the gist.
Free on HBO Max and DirecTV.

I don't know what to think of the above. On the one hand (ha! funny after the movie) it's indeed a good period piece making you grateful we got TV and internet... Great acting, those guys killed it "in Bruges."
On the other, there's really not much happening as a story vs all the prizes and accolades it got. It was oversold to me - not bad, just weird. Not sure what you get out of it, aside from Irish slang. |

Christian Bale in 'The Pale Blue Eye' on Netflix
A good murder mystery that really kept my attention. Easy to follow also. Harry Melling as Edgar Allan Poe is a great actor.

There's no explaining this without seeing it, I don't think. It'll cost you. It's bizarre. Martin McDonagh is quite the unusual storyteller, with In Bruges and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri as a hint of his type of narrative. So I think I'll need to see Seven Psychopaths to round out the set.

Tonight I watched the pilot for, Wednesday. A sort of spinoff from The Addams Family. Funny but the jury is still out. Will try another episode another time.

Give Wednesday a couple more days- I've heard it gets better. I've only seen the pilot as well and I'm not impressed.

Also this one, which was very good. The surprise for me was Micheal Keaton's role and performance. Fantastic as always!

I enjoyed The Protégé. Michael Keaton usually doesn't get the credit that he deserves. I liked him in Pacific Heights.
This is an epic movie, probably top 5 for me. If you haven't seen it, it's worth it:

I bought my 356C in '05. Wanted to drive it to attend the East Coast 356 event that year which was in N. Carolina. So took it over to a good friend's shop in Orlando who specialized in 356 repair, tuneups, restorations, and track/race stuff. For him to go through it and tighten up whatever was needed. When I walked in this was playing on his shop's sound system......

PLAY MISTY FOR ME.
On Netflix now, hadn't seen in years. It's dated, early 1970's but I liked that, and the way people and cars were back then. California looked like a different place. And Jessica Walter was an awesome stalker psycho woman.... I knew one of those once... |
